We had the good fortune of connecting with Shon Murdock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Risk-taking how do you think about risk what role has taking risks played in your life / career?
This has to be the biggest thing for me and along my journey I’ve learned that everyone isn’t going to see your vision or agree with your moves but those are going to be your best moves. You can’t be scared to fail, pick up the pieces and be brave enough to go back to the drawing board and start all over again.

What is the most important factor behind your success / the success of your brand?
The ability to create , nurture and maintain relationships is very important especially in media but the most important part is learning how to leverage those relationships. Also I must include diversifying my portfolio was a huge factor and having the courage to reinvent myself.
How do you know whether to keep going or to give up?
I don’t, but what I learned is to keep my goals realistic and towards my own trajectory so I won’t waste a lot of valuable time on unrealistic and unreachable benchmarks.
Work life balance; how has your balance changed over time? How do you think about the balance?
Unfortunately this is a lesson that I learned much too late and if I could do it all again I would spend more time concentrating on love and family in which I’m catching up on now.
What makes you happy? And why?
New opportunities, they always give me hope. Along the ability to use my creativity and there’s nothing more satisfying to be able to create the lifestyle that you want and deserve doing something that you love.
Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?
My parents nurtured my creativity so it became second nature and I was very fortunate to be from a neighborhood in Queens New York that produced a lot of hip hop entrepreneurs and entertainers. I saw a lot of people make a lot of something out of nothing which ultimately inspired me to do the same.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a fifteen year marketing and branding specialist and very proud to say another Queens, New York success story.

My work with many top wine and spirit brands propelled me to success and popularity in the liquor industry.
Being the founder of The FUBU GOLF CLASSIC in Augusta Georgia the home of the Masters Golf Tournament only added to my accomplishments.
Some of my many accolades include The Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award from The White House under the Obama Administration and also honored by the Korean liquor store association in 2010.
Be on the lookout as I rebrand and relaunch my new brand development company  SMG/The Collaborative in 2024.
Can you share with us some of the new projects you’ve been working on?
Yes sure, right now I’m adding more wine and spirits brands to my portfolio and I’m very proud to be one of the brand ambassadors of Www.vodkila.net currently and Iooking forward to creating a lot of great content for the brand.

www.Beatselectormagazine.com and also www.GladiatorBattleRap.com a new battle rap platform with my partners Www.solpunks.com.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the nicest things I’ve done in the city was visit the aquarium. And a lot of people don’t know that you can actually spend the night at the aquarium in front of the exhibits with a loved one.

Another one of my favorite spots in Atlanta is CRU Lounge Edgewood Avenue.
LOL Burger Bar West Midtown Atlanta is my favorite spot to eat on the go.
