We had the good fortune of connecting with Shon Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to strengthen families through fatherhood engagement. Fatherlessness is a world issue.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
InvolvedDad is an organization that creates strong families through fatherhood engagement. For years we have provided services and resources to fathers and father figures that have little to know access with their children. Studies show that children that grow up without a father is far more likely to experience teenage pregnancy, poverty, incarceration, and emotional imbalance. Having the opportunity to work in the judicial system, iv’e seen it first hand where majority of the men were fatherless, was raised by a single woman, or grandparent.

We don’t believe that children that grow up without a father is hopeless or destined to constant failure, however we do believe that children are far more successful and have abetter chance to succeed when they have access to both parents. This is why our organization exist. We want to give children an advantage and more opportunities to accessing success by having a RESPONSIBLE and well equipped father in their lives.

Through our program we directly provide child support assistance, Parenting education, Coparenting and mediation services, and supervised visitation & exchange services.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my guest to Detroit MI and allow them to visit Hitsville, the birth place of Motown. I would also take them to eat at one of Detroit’s favorites and staples, “Fishbones”. I would conclude the evening by taking them to Greek town and experience the nightlife where we can barhop and visit the night clubs that are electrifying.
