We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheshawn Foltzer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheshawn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Prior to taking the leap to start my business 2 years ago, I spent the last 20 years of my career working for corporate America in industrial sales. What I loved about a career in sales was the relationships that you form with your clients. Getting to know the person behind the sale, and learning about their lives and family. Forming that bond with someone that you would have never crossed paths with in your personal life. I wanted to take the personal aspect of my former career and build that into a company that had meaning to me. When I hear the saying by Mark Twain “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life”, I choose to differ. I physically work harder and also longer hours than I ever have. The difference is the sense of fulfillment I feel at the end of the day. The is an amazing sense of pride that I have from restoring a piece of furniture. A piece of furniture that has had a history for the past 70 years, which can live a renewed life for another 70. Saving forgotten and discarded yet quality furniture from a landfill, or working with a family to preserve a piece of heirloom furniture that has been passed down from the earlier generations.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business focuses on vintage furniture restoration. My passion is working on pieces that are from the Midcentury Modern era. What I love about this time period is the timelessness of the simplistic organic designs and the rich wood tones of the Walnut, teak, and rosewood- which are characteristic of this time period. The pieces, sleek and understated, can be quite versatile. They also can complement various other styles of furniture and decor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love when we have visitors in town. Atlanta has something for everyone, whether it be shopping at Ponce City Market, or amazing Vintage hunting at Highland Row Antiques or Motherlode in Decatur. You can easily dine around the world by taking a trip to Buford Highway. Nature enthusiasts can kayak or float down the Hooch or Chattahoochee River. And also, a stop by the High Museum of Art to see what amazing exhibits are rotating through.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out to my Stepfather, Scott Ashie. He is the one who patiently taught me how to restore my first piece of furniture at the at of 13 years old.
