We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherrod Leonard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherrod, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Exposing our son to a consistent work ethic that he hears, sees, and touches on a daily basis…i.e. reading books related to the business, studying content regarding continuing education, and physically witnessing the hands on work in the field that belongs to our company.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Just recently started a minority owned & operated residential/commercial electrical company in 2023. Started this journey 22yrs ago from the educational ground up at Atlanta Technical College studying electrical construction & maintenance where I completed my certificate of diploma. Joined the IBEW apprenticeship 5yr training program to become a journeyman after 2000 hrs of in class training and 8000 hrs of on the job training. From there I embarked on traveling across America from Atl to San Francisco to sharpen my craft. Obtained electrical licenses in Cali, Texas, & Ga. where I reside currently.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To become a tour guide for a week, the start would begin with breakfast at unity in Atlanta for a southern home cooked meal from scratch. Car travel through the HBCU’S, Martin Luther King center, and sports entertainment at Mercedes Benz stadium to see the Dirt Birds(NFL Atl, Falcons). End the night with some refreshments at local bar scattered throughout the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is a book named People Skills by Dr.. Robert Bolton and Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kyorski. These are just two of the many books which have contributed to the relentless pursuit toward gaining success in my mind first and then applying it outwardly second.
