We had the good fortune of connecting with Shermaine Perry-Knights and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shermaine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I started my own business to create a legacy. Process is king and applied knowledge is power. With that said, my team uses books to solve pain points that are often ignored by organizations. We are changing the perception of communication, project management, and learning design.
We help organizations spot new opportunities and create customized learning solutions. Due to the complex nature of innovation, the team specializes in many disciplines. We have programs for corporate culture development, professional advancement, and career readiness. For now, we choose to focus on learning development through literature. In business you must: know your product better than anyone, know your customer, and have a burning passion for results.

What should our readers know about your business?

Amazingly Published is a full-service publishing agency. We help families turn memories into a legacy and a stream of income. Our team specializes in books for children, from beautifully-illustrated children’s books to entertaining coloring and activity books. We understand all of the minute details that are involved in publishing a book and getting it in the hands of eager readers. That’s why we decided to take our publishing knowledge and help other people publish their books. Amazingly Published makes families feel “heard and seen” in books and publishing services. Creativity is life! This book business allows me to gift time and talent into creative outcomes.

I got to where I am today business-wise by three powerful things. First, a strong belief that faith requires consistent action. Secondly, a healthy obsession with learning new things. Curiousity is a way of life for me. Third, always viewing others as collaborative partners to learn from and grow with. I overcome the challenges by networking with others for support, create partnerships, and implement strategies. Understanding how to research, what hustle looks like, and marketing foundations are key to thriving as a business. I want the world to know that I’m a storyteller that sees the value in teaching others how to share their stories.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Butter and Cream at Decatur Square. This ice cream parlor has dairy-free items. It’s perfect for a sweet treat.

Book Boutique in Atlantic Station. This black-owned bookstore is a beautiful addition to the city. Kristina Roberts, also known as Zane, is the owner. Books are magic and this place is filled with books, apparel, and unique limited edition and seasonal items to fit any budget.

Loca Luna near Amsterdam Avenue. This spot is perfect to eat, drink and hang out for conventional nightlife with a cool mix of tapas at any time. Loca Luna equals dinner, dancing, and good vibes.

I’m a huge fan of Ponce City Market and the Atlanta Beltline. The walking trails and eateries are great for dates and getting together with friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Crystal Swain-Bates. She’s a celebrated children’s book author that gives her time and talent freely to teach others how to publish.
