We had the good fortune of connecting with Shepherd Xornam Amenyedzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shepherd Xornam, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, risk is part of growth. I see it as an opportunity to step into the unknown and test what I’m capable of. One of my beliefs is that everything in life is risky but having knowledge about it determines whether it’s risk or not. Almost every big move in my career has come with some level of risk especially when it was investing in equipment when I wasn’t sure how I’d get the return.

It hasn’t been easy!but those risks have shaped me the most and made me grow. They taught me resilience, problem-solving, and the importance of trusting my instincts. Even when things didn’t work out exactly as planned, I always came out with lessons that made me better by the day.

Taking risks is basically just believing in yourself enough to bet on your own vision.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is all about telling stories in a way that feels real and timeless. I always try to capture authenticity and emotion in a way that best communicates to my audience.

One thing I’m most proud of is how far God has brought me. I started with no sense of direction but along the line. My passion has grown stronger with a clearer vision of what I want to do. There were times, I doubted myself because it wasn’t easy. It’s still not easy actually but it gets better over time. Every challenge taught me something new. Looking back, those struggles actually shaped me and my work.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned are to stay consistent and be willing to learn. The creative industry is evolving and you always have to learn. If you refuse to learn, you’ll still learn but the hard way. I always try to be 1% better than yesterday.

At the end of the day, I don’t want my brand to be all about photos, it should speak emotions and build connection. I want people to look at what I create and feel like they’re part of the story. People’s excitement and satisfaction about my work of art drives me and excites me every single time and keeps me going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Itinerary for a week long trip with my best friend.
As someone who loves natures, some of the things I find interesting are waterfalls, eco-parks, parks, hikes and more.

To start, we’d visit a restaurant like Buka Restaurant in Osu, Accra where we can get authentic local cuisine. We’d definitely try some street food like Waakye and snacks like plantain chips.
For art and culture, we’d visit the Accra Arts Centre where we can shop and view a lot of artifacts. I’m a big fan of art works and this is certainly a must.
A day trip to Aburi botanical gardens will be great therapy and visit the Boti waterfalls as well.
A two day trip to Cape Coast will be awesome where get to learn about our ancestors and the slave trade back in the days.
