We had the good fortune of connecting with Shenasia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shenasia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think without risks, your possibilities are limited. Without risks, you get to play it safe, stay in your comfort zone, and you stunt your growth. What fun is that? I took a risk and moved 8 hours away from my family and friends to really level up my career in modeling and acting. That alone has put me in a position to be able to do what I’m truly passionate about on a more consistent basis. I get to work, network and learn from people that inspire me, people that are really making things happen. But risk-taking is not for the weak. There are some slow days, lonely days, exhausting days, broke days, but if you have faith in yourself and faith in God, that’s what’s going to get you through.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been modeling for about 8 years. I never had any training, an agent or anything like that. I taught myself and learned from my peers, photographers and designers. I love modeling because I get to be a creative. I get to see people’s vision’s come to life through me. It’s such a satisfying feeling. I just recently got into acting this last year when I moved to ATL. I came down here and started applying for different castings and I got a lot of my work that way. I also started taking acting classes recently to improve myself. It’s definitely challenging because it’s not consistent. This whole process is teaching me that I am still learning myself as a woman. It’s teaching me patience and perseverance. I want the world to know that I believe in dream chasing. You should do whatever makes you feel fulfilled.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I haven’t been to too many places in my new city yet, unfortunately. But two of the places that I’ve really enjoyed have been Breakfast at Barney’s, an excellent brunch spot, and also Copper Cove was a nice evening vibe with good drinks, and great music. My goal this year is definitely to make time to explore the city more.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout God and my family. My family pours so much love into me and always encourages me to keep going. & God is God. God is always there. God is always providing. God is everything.
