We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelley and Shon Bullock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelley and Shon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My husband has always had the mind of an entrepreneur. He has been hustling and making things happen since I met him and that’s one thing that attracted me to him. He started his merch line when he was on the road traveling with his band. The thought process was having several streams of income. We always wanted to use our gifts and talents to expand and create lasting wealth. We also wanted to use our businesses to spread positive messages of love and hope in today’s world. Owning something that is ours and being able to pass it down is something that is very important to us. Also, being able to control our schedules is a huge bonus for us as parents.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Creativity is something that comes naturally to both of us. We love to bounce ideas off of eachother and come up with concepts and content we feel proud of. Deciding to move forward with BEAR N MIND, our new clothing line, was something that seemed natural to do. We just continued the merch line that Shon had already created and put a different spin on it. We are so proud of and excited about the messages that we are able to convey through clothing! We are really excited about our Pretty Girls Only line. It was created to build the self esteem of young women, by letting them know that they are created in the image of God and they are made beautifully!! We had the idea to use life’s experiences and the word of God to create something really cool and comfortable to wear. We have been more successful than we imagined we would be because we have faith in God and in ourselves. Deciding to launch a business is not for the faint of heart. There is a lot to learn and there will be some failures and hiccups along the way.The road has not been easy. We have had many struggles over the years while trying to make things happen. We’ve dealt with financial difficulties, miscarriage, health issues, communication breakdowns, and trying to find ways to keep building during this pandemic….but we are still here! We are so grateful for the opportunity to show others what perseverance looks like. We just keep going! We keep positive people around us and we also encourage eachother. We have learned a lot along the way while be married and in business together. One thing we’ve learned is to always set aside time for ourselves! Entrepreneurs have to hustle hard everyday and sometimes you forget to take time to relax and enjoy the blessings you’ve been given. We have also learned to appreciate every part of the process! Although the process may be painful at times, you have to remember that you are making progress all the while and gaining knowledgethat you can pass on, so enjoy it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely check out The Ponce City Market, Battery Park, Top Golf, Atlantic Station The Aquarium, The National Center for Civil and Human rights and Centennial Park. We also love to eat so we would go to Fish Tyme, The Beakfast Club Atl, The Southern Gentleman, Negril Atl, STK Steakhouse and RA Sushi Bar Atl.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to dedicate this shout out to our children, parents, family, and our church family members. Without their love, support and prayers we could not do all that we are able to do!
