We had the good fortune of connecting with Shellah Dunmore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shellah, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote/affirmation is Ecclesiastics 3. “A time for everything., And a season for every activity under the heavens.” To me it is a daily reminder to Remember that there is a time for everything. There were so many times when I was Anxious about wanting something or there was a time where I was trying to rush to get somewhere and now if I get those feelings I think about Ecclesiastics 3. It helps me to remember to be at peace with what is happening.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I recently had a book release: Breaking the Silence; My Story of Freedom from Domestic Violence. This book took some courage for me to write but I wanted to do it because I wanted to help other women and men that are in the same situation as myself. Many times when we are in domestic violence situations or relationships we feel Ashamed and embarrassed. I wanted to reach out to let others know that you are not alone. You are not the only ones that have been in a domestic violence relationship or situation. I wanted to let others know there’s no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed because we all go through things and we all have different struggles. What we have to learn from this is how to gain our strength so we are able to make better moves going forward. The journey that I was on and that I’m still currently on is not easy there will still be distractions that will try to stop us from completing our mission. The lessons that I’ve learned along the way Is #1 Awareness and understanding of what’s going on #2 Just get started #3 Keep Pushing Forward

My book is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble’s, and Google books.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I we love to explore and try new things. I would set up a little coffee bar station and every morning we would have breakfast and discuss things that motivate and encourage us. Do a little shopping , find a new restaurant that we may want to try.. Later in the evening attend my kids sporting events so their auntie can see them play. At night time we will prepare for fun movie nights that we would enjoy at home with our special created nachos and popcorn with all types of seasoning. If we have time we can attend Jeju Sauna Spa and relax. Our best times are enjoying each other’s company.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shout out to my Lord and Savior without him nothing is possible. My beautiful five Children, as a single mom they have been with me through the ups and downs and they are all mommies Inspirations. My family and friends for their support . I also would like to shout out Felixia Wade and Bloom publishing for being super amazing in working with me to publish my book: Breaking the Silence, My Story of Freedom from Domestic Violence.
