We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelbey & Michael March and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelbey & Michael, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When starting any business, your time is needed. Almost every moment revolves around the building of the business. Once you have put the work in, mastered a few things, and worked out the kinks….it should be a little smoother. Nope, unfortunately, there are so many twists and turns on a daily basis, it could mentally take a toll on you. As much as I tried to push back, deligate, take “me time”, there was always someone that needed me, or just bumbared my personal space. I had no outlet, no time to grow or prioritize my life. Something had to be done, so I learned how to firmly say “NO”. No, you will not get my time, intemidate me, size me up, ask me personal questions and invade my space while conducting business….NO you will NOT do this anymore. I couldn’t hear myself think, moreless, be a mother and a wife on the level that I use to. So the hubster and I evaluated all the “things” that we were going through and desided, MOBILE will give us more of a work life balance. That’s what we did and we are loving the journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We decided to REBRAND ourselves after we closed the brick and mortor. This was the most exciting part of the closure….it was actually the REBIRTH of US! We wanted to have a FRESH start and WOW our followers. Well, I believe we pulled it off! Everyone loved the name…because it fit us PERFECTLY! BLACK BEAN COFFEE CO – A black owned small business!! We are the cutest contempary, barista chic, country little trailer that houses everything we had in the brick and motor. We now are not married to a building. Everything belongs to US! We have a large menu of caffainated drinks you would die for. Our recipes are perfect to the pallet. We serve, esspresso in every way imagainable, fancy teas with fresh berries, affogato, which is ice cream and esspresso dessert topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. We now are able to cater private events AND we had the opportunity to work on MOVIES SETS!…..AWESOME – with coffee, pastries, and small lunch and dinner options as well. Being mobile allows us to meet more people, network with the right people, have a flixable schedule, stay more focused on what’s important, spend time with each other and our families, and go to where the CROWD (people) are instead of waiting for the crowd to find us. The opportunities are ENDLESS and the people are SO MUCH MORE SUPPORTIVE. I’m loving the VIBE! HIGH VIBRATIONS ARE HERE TO STAY!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Actually, I like to stay at home. My home is the best place ever. Everything I need is there all wrapped up in one big ball. However, if a friend came to visit, I would take them to a few state parks such as Amicola Falls and Tallulah Falls. We would hit the Belt Line and then would hit up LaFonda in MidTown. My favorite Mexican restaurant. I love to cook so dinner would be at my house with an array of pastries from all my pastry chef friends that are local.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success comes in so many levels and I don’t judge anyone based on where they’re at in their journey. My husband and I share the same journey and we pull from the same strength from within. Both our parents passed before we both turned 16 years old. So to say that the bond is strong, it’s an understatment. Our spirits connected and our journey was destined! Our parents words of wisdom, their spirit, and The Most High is who deserves the credit. Of course our kids encourage and play a huge part of the journey as well, LaVonne, Chelsea, Justin, Markel, Marquis, and Mike Jr. We do this so our kids can see who you can become dispite of the cards you are dealt. Legacy, Strength and Resilance is what we instill in our children.
