We had the good fortune of connecting with Shekeena Rosier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shekeena, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my brand’s success is the support from my online community. When you genuinely love what you do it shows. I love everything about traveling. I love exploring, and learning. I share my knowledge with my online community through blog posts, social media posts, and YouTube videos. They support me because they trust me. The community I grew are like a family to me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
ShekeenaKR is my brand. I am a travel influencer and consultant. On average I take at least 6 trips a year. After planning a group trip to Thailand for my friends I decided to start a travel agency. When I first start planning trips for others my overall goal was to create an unforgettable experience. In today’s world where there are thousands of online travel agencies, I had to set myself apart. I started by creating an online community. I share with my audience that traveling is not always expensive. There are creative ways to travel the world using flight deals, loyalty points and miles. I want to help people travel more while paying less.

I love everything about travel. I am social worker by education. When you combine my passion for travel and desire to help other, you get a bomb a** travel consultant. I operate a full service travel agency. When planning trips for clients we consider every little detail. We can accommodate most requests. We are available to our clients while they are on their trip.

I am most proud of my progress over the past 2.5 years. I am excited what the future may bring. It took patience, faith, and perseverance to get where I am today. It was not easy! There were a lot of hiccups along the way. After the first year I wanted to expand my business by adding group trips. On March 11th 2020, I remember watching the news and the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 virus a pandemic. Shortly after came the travel restrictions. My very first curated group trip to London, Paris, and Amsterdam was supposed to start on March 14th 2020. I had to cancel the trip. I poured my all into planning it so I was devastated. I learned a valuable lesson about contracts and building a team. Now we require clients to complete a travel insurance waiver along with other documents. I now have pandemic-proof policies and procedures set in place. In addition, I have three employees that assists me. We are ready for to push forward. We are now planning a group trip and a retreat.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area we would rent a room at one of my favorite local hotels, The Sarasota Modern. We would spend the first day by the pool, enjoying drinks from the bar. Each morning we would walk next door to have breakfast at Toasted Mango. We would have a beach day where we visit Lido Beach and Siesta Key Beach. We would also spend the day doing water activities such as boating, parasailing, or jet-skiing. For night activities we would visit the roof top bars at The Westin Sarasota and Art Ovation Hotel. We may spend a couple days in Tampa. While we are in Tampa we would visit The Cake Drip, 7th + Grove, and Selfie WRLD Tampa. It would be a trip to remember.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In middle school, I joined Thaise Educational Exposure Tours, Inc ran by Teresa Clove. In this program, we traveled to different parts of the United States to tour college campuses. I was able to visit Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, and several cities in Florida. I am forever grateful for this experience because it made me realize the world is huge. I can say I got my traveling bug from this program. I would like to thank Ms. Teresa Clove for exposing me to the world of travel. I also want to dedicate my shoutout to my Facebook travel group, Travel More Pay Less with ShekeenaKR. 90% of my clients are members of my travel group. Their support motivates me to keep going.
