We had the good fortune of connecting with Shedarra Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shedarra, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business when I decided to leave corporate America and become an entrepreneur. I wanted to do something that I enjoy that wouldn’t feel like work which was doing eyelash extensions. It may sound silly but when I would get my lashes done, I was always felt more beautiful and confident. I wanted to make others feel the same even if it’s in a small way so I focused on learning the craft and have continued to hone my skills with the goal to become one of the best and most sought after lash artists. In order to achieve that goal I’ve made it a mission to provide a high quality service and an exceptional customer experience for every client every time that sets me apart from other lash artists.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I specialize in eyelash extensions. What sets me apart from other businesses is, aside from ensuring that client’s love the service they are receive and continuing to invest in learning about my craft in order to take it to new levels, I also focus on making sure that they love their customer experience. As someone who has had lash extensions done in the past, I wanted to learn from my customer experience and elevate it with my clients. I want clients to love their lashes, and knowing that they have plenty of other Lash Artists they can go to, I also want them to love their customer experience so much that they choose to continue coming back to me.
I had no lashing experience, so I started from scratch in learning how to do them. The journey has not been in easy in the slightest because there are so many aspects to consider that nobody tells you when you get started. In order to overcome some of the challenges, I’ve invested and attended classes, webinars, conferences, beauty expos, joined Last Artist communities and group chats to ask questions, share knowledge and give recommendations, which has helped me so much because I feel like connected with people who understand what I’m going through and can relate.
I’m striving to take my brand to new heights that will hopefully reach the masses on a national and Lord willing, a world-wide level. It will take a lot of hard work to get there, but I know it’s possible if I set my mind to it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Monday – We would go to the Atlanta Breakfast Club for brunch located in downtown Atlanta. We’d then go to the Georgia Aquarium which is just a few blocks away. We’d then go to Lenox Mall to do a little shopping since it’s one of our favorite things to do. We’d then go to the Sugar Factory for dinner. We both have sweet tooths and they have great selection of food and different sweet treats with way too many calories that I almost feel guilty about eating.

Tuesday – We’d go to some shops to pick up some trinkets along the Beltline and grab lunch at either Two Urban Licks. We’d then grab Jeni’s Ice Cream and then decided whether we’re going to walk the belt line or grab some scooters. Then we’d go to the World of Coca Cola for a tour to check out the museum and try different coke flavors from different countries. We’d then do a later dinner by trying a popular food truck called Smokey Kitchen BBQ which is located near Grady Hospital downtown. Their hours of operation are from 12am-4am which is super late, but worth staying up and eating late for.

Wednesday – We’d go to the Selfie Museum to take pictures as a keepsake for our week of fun. We’d then go grab take out from Uncle Phill’s Cheesesteak located in Decatur. They have really good cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks and my most favorite which is the lemon pepper chicken cheesesteak. We’d check out a comedy show or find an event where comedians are performing because one of our favorite things to do is laugh.

Thursday – We’d attend a candle making class at Linwood Court Candles and have dinner at Fellaship.ATL, located in the Castleberry Hill area, which is Cam Newton’s lounge and restaurant where they serve southern cuisine.

Friday – We’d go to The Hive Buckhead for brunch. They have some of the best food I’ve ever had for brunch. The Pecan Banana French Toast is everything. We’d then go to The Battery which is where the Altanta Braves stadium is. It has places to shop and eat.

Saturday – We’d go to Stone Mountain to do a hike in the morning. We’d then go to a festival, ideally one with different foods to try. In the evening we would go The Sun Dial Restaurant for dinner. They have an amazing 360 view of Atlanta that is really cool to see at night with all the city lights.

Sunday – Depending on when my best was scheduled to leave, we’d attend Ebenezer Baptist Church for service, which is the infamous church that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached at and where Reverend Raphael Warnock, a US Senator, is the current Sr. Pastor.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my Aunt. She has been like a second mom since my mom past away years ago. She’s been my biggest supporter providing encouragement and wisdom throughout all my ups, downs, milestones, and achievements and is the strongest person I know. She’s taught me to never doubt myself and inspires me to never give up. The amount of gratitude I have for the role she has played in my life cannot adequately be described but I’ve been blessed to have her. She deserves more than her flowers.
