We had the good fortune of connecting with Shea Hagans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I started my business with an iron and a Cricut I received for Christmas in 2016. When I first started, I wanted to make shirts that were fun for all occasions to include: weddings, birthday parties and my favorite…birth announcements! In the last two years I have focused mainly on children’s clothing while incorporating my love for sewing.
As a newly wed, I didn’t want to lose myself. Sewing provided not only an outlet, but a rediscovered purpose in my life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the earlier stages of my career I relied heavily on word of mouth and referrals to promote my work however, social media has been a real game changer. Social media has facilitated collaborations with local Atlanta-based artists like Chala_Charly and Whatdoyaink.

While being a mother, wife, and serving full-time in the military my journey to get here has been nothing short of eventful. I’ve faced many challenges, but I wouldn’t trade this journey for the world!
For anyone considering or pursuing a life of crafting, my advise would be:
First, be true to your brand. Second, be transparent with your client base. Last but not least, don’t put yourself in a bubble. You’ll only limit your potential.
I want the world to know that my brand doesn’t limit itself to one dimensional products. I am just getting started and strive to be a household name.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first want to dedicate this shoutout to my rock, my best friend, my loving husband, my amazing son who dedicates his time and patience and helps me with all my crazy orders. Special shout out to my bestie for always giving me creative ideas and feedback. Saving the best for last, shoutout to my mother who supports me and is my biggest cheerleader!
