We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayne Coles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shayne, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel like being an artist/creative person is all about taking risks really. My whole career I realized that I have to invest and sacrifice myself in some way rather that be time, money, and relationships. Yes, I chose to be an artist and that can definitely be a struggle but time management has been my main priority and having a schedule so I don’t sacrifice my soul basically! Taking risks can be fun, you never know until you try.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I’m an innovative and skilled Multimedia artist, freelance Model, Photagapher, and self taught creator who creates looks/content based on my everyday life and my personal style. I’m always doing something, I’m always busy! What I would say that sets me apart from others is that I’m very good with community outreach and I tend to always get along with anyone I meet! I love meeting new people and engaging in genuine conversation. As for my career professionally, it’s hard for to say I’m successful in my career. I’m happy with my progress but I still have a lot to learn and accomplish. I learned that you need to really do want you want to do. I know it’s cliche to say but people are going to be constantly telling you it’s not possible or try to distract you and I usually just tone it out. You are your own cheerleader and only you can determine your future.

Keep up with me on my Instagram (@ina_skc), I’m always posting about my life and I would love for new people all over to join me in my journey!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I personally think there’s not a lot of things to do in Pittsburgh. But if my friends were in town I would take them to the parks during the day and plan a cute picnic! I enjoy our parks cause we have a lot of them and some are big with trails. For fun activities, I would go to the Strip District and Northshore. There’s bowling, mini golf, and arcade games! And for food I would take them to Pusadee’s Garden. They have amazing food it’s a little pricey but it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would like to shoutout my family for always supporting me and trusting me with my life decisions and loving me for who I am. I would like to also shoutout my group OASIS (@oasiswas) we are a Queer Black Dj group based in Pittsburgh and without them I honestly wouldn’t have found who I really am without them and the community that comes with it! And lastly, I want to shoutout all my beautiful friends (you know who you are). Thank you for putting up with my strange and weird personality sometimes. Love them all.
