We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayna Gross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shayna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
At Physiovation we work to find the underlying cause of repeated injury, movement challenges, and gait inefficiencies. We meet people where they are in their movement journey, helping them start to improve their strength, mobility, and mechanics. Approaching everything from a functional perspective, everything we do is to help people function more efficiently and become stronger, making a positive impact on their longevity.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We work to help people reach their movement goals, whether it’s a specific injury, area of their body that has given them trouble in the past or currently, or if they’re just noticing that things are harder for them then they used to be. With 25 years of practice I have been able to take the experience I have with treating patients in different settings, and specialize in something most of us do on a daily basis, walk. Taking our walking patterns, and breaking them down to their most basic building blocks and seeing how these patterns impact people through everything from walking to lifting weights, which is something everyone needs to be doing, these patterns can be changed, regardless of someone’s age. Having the opportunity to spend one hour, one on one with patients allows me to listen, understand, and help effect change in the most efficient and effective ways.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The beltline offers one of the best in town experiences. From people watching, to great eats and drinks, to exercise of all kinds, I love hopping on the beltline with a bike or scooter, or even on my own two feet. I’m a celiac and some of my favorite eateries are Muchacho, Sweet Greens, The Daily, Hell Yeah Gluten Free. A fun afternoon stroll to a local pickelball court, either Larson Park or Piedmont Park, both accessible by the Beltline. From Piedmont Park, a stroll through the Botanical Gardens, an afternoon vegan gelato or coffee drink from Three Peaches Gelato tops off the activity of the day! Nothing like a delicious glass of wine from Vino Teca in Inman Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Alfonso, is my ride or die. He has supported my 25 year career and all of my endeavors to continue to grow professionally, personally, and in raising our two teenage boys. Peter Attia, author of Outlive, started sharing into mainstream channels what is at the core of Physiovation’s Wellness Philosophy, exercise is the number one modality we can manipulate in order to have the greatest impact on healthspan and longevity.
