Meet Shayla Maddox | Event Services and Party Rentals

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayla Maddox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shayla, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal is for me somewhere taking vacations and traveling the world every month with my family while my 5-6 passive incomes funding us. At the end of my career, my company, The Party Popperz will be an household name and franchised in many different states other than Tennessee. I want to have employed over 300 people and to be known as one of the best employers to work for. I will own at least 2 event halls in my hometown for weddings and special celebrations. I will also have some other investment properties and co-owner of other businesses. I will be financially free and have created generational wealth for my family. I want to show others what God can do for you, if you keep the faith through the storms that were put in place to hold you back but you kept going!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I want to say foremost that all of this did not happen overnight and I did not wake up and say, Hey, I’m going to start this business today, tomorrow or next week. It actually took me three years to actually push this new business venture out to the public. I applied for my business license in 2018 and kept renewing but still almost three years of self-doubting, feeling discouraged and saying I will just do this when its a “good time”. When I finally decided to launch my business, it was still not a good time”. Let me tell you this, it will never be a good time lol. This was a bad time! In 2020, the pandemic hit, I got a divorce, became a single mother of three, and lost a good paying job that I was with for over 6 years. This is definitely not a good time for me but these things were my fuel to finally push out what I really want to do and what I really need to be doing moving forward with the next chapter in my life. I finally launched my business and its full purpose in 2021 and been going ever since!

My company provides event staffing services from hosts, setup/decorators, food servers and after event cleaners. We also provide party rental attractions from inflatable bounce houses, toddler soft play sets, inflatable movies, snow cone machines, popcorn machines, cotton candy machines and more! I have future plans in adding photo booth rentals and having more event service options by providing event planners, photographers, DJs, bartenders and more!

What sets my business apart from others is that we want to provide it all for you instead of you having to use different other party services for your event. We can provide event staffing to help with your events and provide the party rentals at the same time. We want to make you feel like family and that you will have us on speed dial when something is needed! These combined services are not offered as much locally and I want to help those looking for an all purpose event company to help with their events.

The party rental attractions that I have are one of a kind because they are uniquely made to bring the fun to you! Whether your child’s birthday party needs a bounce house and cotton candy machine, or a soft play set rental for a toddler’s 1st birthday. Or maybe you are wanting to watch movies with popcorn on a 17ft inflatable screen in your backyard. We got it all for you! We also provide hosts to help work your parties with setting up, serving food to guests and cleaning up afterwards if needed. The hosts can also work the snow cone, cotton candy or popcorn machines which is a popular booking for big birthday parties, church events, school events and corporate events.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a foodie! So if you have a friend visiting Chattanooga, TN, take them on my food tour lol. So Monday, grab lunch at Slim & Husky’s. Taco Tuesday, try out Agave & Rye for the best birrias and drinks. Afterwards take a walk downtown and check out our beautiful downtown scenery. Wednesday, pull up to the Crab Trap food truck and grab some of the best seafood plates in town. Thursday night, go have a good time at Volcano Bar for some more seafood and to dance to a live dj. Friday night, the new spot downtown called Six18 is a whole vibe and you all can eat southern food and listen to live jazz music all night. Saturday, go have some fun at Top Golf, drinking and golfing, then go to the new sports bar downtown called “Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux “. Sunday is usually the travel back home day so don’t forget to try the early brunch at 1885 Grille.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give all thanks to God, my Lord and Savior. I am forever grateful and thankful for the favor his has upon my life! I want to give a special shoutout to my children Kayla, Skylar and KJ! They are my reasons and why I pushed myself to where I am today. My mother (Sonya), father (Donnell), and brother (Jr) for always helping and having my back through it all. You guys are the greatest! I want to give a special thanks and shoutout to my bestfriend Joyre. She’s been here since day 1 (literally since third grade) as my friend, sister, and therapist and I am forever grateful for her and always around to hear my crazy ideas. I wish I can name everyone but to EVERYONE (you know exactly who you are) that played a major part in my life, was there to see my growth, and to speak life and gave advice to me, I THANK YOU!
