We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawanna Brun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawanna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was to show other women close to 50 that we can still pursue our dreams that it is never to late. I also desired to be able to give back to others on my terms. For example, if I wanted to bless someone I don’t have to call anybody for approval! I just do it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a nurse Educator at Georgia State University.. I teach in the Fundamentals Of Nursing Course. I just passed my ARNP certification exam in May and I am currently in the last stages of completing my PhD in public health.

I am here today by the Grace of God, I have definitely had my challenges. However, I believe that everything happens for a reason.
Now as far as being a online boutique owner, I have always loved fashion and always wanted to be an entrepreneur. So in June of 2020, in the middle of COVID19 and having to quarantine. I feel like God said now is the perfect time so here I am a year later. Is it easy, nah, but I do enjoy it and I have learned so much about myself and entrepreneurship.

What I want the world to know is to never give up on your dreams! Never compare your journey to anyone else. My favorite saying these days is My Race, My pace!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On Friday night I would definitely have to hit a seafood spot…I love the Boiler room, their crab boil is so good! I would think take her to Monticello because I love a live band and the food is good there too. Saturday possible shopping at stores like Ross, Marshall’s, and TJMax and then head on over to cheesecake factory.

Sunday we definitely be at Church. I attend Victory Norcross and then maybe we would go to brunch at Linnethia restaurant.

Monday thru Thursday, I am really home taking pictures or doing school stuff but If I had to take her out during the week in would be to a cigar lounge like Humidor or Cigar City

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Garvens Brun is my biggest cheerleader. He has organized the boutique room, purchased storage items and at one point was my photographer. My familyfor always believing in me, no matter what I do! They really think I can do anything. My son (Shamori Sands) actually help me come up with the Boutique Name. It was his suggestion to replace the C with a K.
