We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawana Grigsby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my own business because I really wanted to live life on my own terms. I knew that I wanted to wake up each day, and have the freedom and flexibility to do what I wanted to do with my time, while also making a difference.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
True Success, is a Real Estate and Life Insurance firm, proudly serving the metro Atlanta area. We offer a wide range of services to support our client’s needs, regardless of where they may be in the home buying process.

We help our clients buy, sell, or find the their next rental home. We offer mortgage protection plans, from some of the country’s leading insurance providers. I’m also excited to announce that we will also be providing notary services. Our aim is to provide our clients with a remarkable client experience from beginning to end.

Like any other business, it wasn’t born overnight, and it definitely was not easy to get started. We’re constantly trying to find ways to better serve our clients and generate new business. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned so far is to be consistent. It really is all about those daily habits, routines, and remembering your “why” that keeps you going on those hard days.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so much to do in the city of Atlanta! Some of my favorite places to visit for daytime activities are: the Botanical Gardens, Atlanta Aquarium, Civil Rights Museum, Trap Music Museum, Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, The Beltline, Atlantic Station.

Some of my favorite restaurants are: Poor Calvin’s, Sage Woodfire Tavern, O-Ku

Bars/Nightlife: King & Duke, Gypsy Kitchen, Sudo, Monticello, Fin & Feather, Whiskey Mistress, Savoy.

Atlanta is also home to some beautiful trails: Sweetwater Creek, Appalachian Trails, Bamboo Forest, Kennesaw Mountain,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my family and friends, but more specifically, I’d like to thank my mother. She is my biggest supporter and always encourages me to follow my dreams. Without my mom, I literally don’t know how I would make it. She is my rock!
