We had the good fortune of connecting with Shavon Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shavon, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Savannah, Ga. A small city on the coast of the Atlantic. I was raised in a southern upbringing. In Savannah there are not many opportunities for black woman without college degrees. A lot of people in Savannah aren’t really looking to leave Savannah. If faith was a person, I was that. I decided to resign from my job as housekeeping supervisor just to pursue my dream. I started my body enhancement brand “ Savannah Curves”, and I also help other woman start businesses as well. I will always be passionate about providing a outlet for woman to be positive and successful .

What should our readers know about your business?
My brand Savannah Curves represents the freedom to express yourself in its true form of beauty. I provide natural and safe alternatives for woman to be able to have curvy bodies and enhance their natural physiques. I feel proud knowing I can provide great results and restore confidence in woman who may be experiencing low self esteem. Growing up I always was a slim female so enhancing my body was definitely like a experiment to me. Upon doing so much research I was able to formulate different supplements to enhance the body. I’m also on the path to teaching woman how to be creative in the body enhancement industry. Being competitive in a field that is always changing is a challenge. I’ve learned to not be impulsive when making products. Patience is the key , being creative requires thought. One thing I want the world to know is that as long as you believe in you, that’s enough.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend in town we definitely eating at Annie Laura’s In Riverdale, Ga. The best soul food on the south side.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is only one person that has been leading me on my journey. I’m blessed that you’ve kept me. Thank you God
