We had the good fortune of connecting with Shatori Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shatori, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always loved photography. When I was younger, I had a little Tinkerbell camera that, at the time, I thought was just a cute toy to play with. I would take pictures of nature, friends, and family. It wasn’t until my late grandmother showed her interest in wanting me to take photos of the family more often than I did. I would take pictures everywhere we went, every holiday, every gathering, and I started to fall in love with it. Since then, I have never put the camera down. I love capturing moments that last a lifetime. When I think about my grandmother, who is no longer here, I look back at the photos we captured, and it brings me happiness. Photography allows me to express myself in many ways. It helps me find meaning and connection; I can communicate emotions, ideas, and perspectives that might be hard to express in other ways. I also love that I can make my clients happy and give them long-lasting memories as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have faced many trials and tribulations to get where I am today. Losing my grandmother and my brother left me with a huge hole in my heart that may never be filled, but I learned to live with the pain and find happiness in other places. They both loved my work and supported me through it all, and that makes me work ten times harder because it gives me purpose. I am still facing many challenges as I move on to different chapters of my life, but I continue to work hard and stay positive. I continue my faith in God, and I believe that he will never lead me down the wrong path.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Ponce City Market area where I get to try many cultural foods and also support other small businesses. I love the summer festivals, concerts, smoothie places, and coffee shops.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my mother, Lois Rose, my sister-cousin, Erica Rose, and my best friend, Stephanie Spencer, for always being there every step of the way for anything I needed to get where I am today with my business. I have a list of supporters, an entire village. I thank you all for the love and support.
