Meet Sharra Speer | Event Branding Artist & Conceptual Creative

Hi Sharra, what are you inspired by?
Humanity inspires me. Love inspires me. I get to help people celebrate each other in the biggest, most imaginative way possible. I get to curate experiences that come from love, are created with love, and fill rooms with love.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am, for the most part, an event branding artist. It’s a fun little corner of the branding world where no project or workday is the same and anything is possible. I get to create the visuals, graphics, designs, and branding for birthdays, weddings, social gatherings, anniversaries, you name it! I got here thanks to YouTube University and a whole lot of belief in self. I started out in education but always knew my heart existed in a more creative space where I could be free to experiment and push limits. I resigned in 2016 and started my entrepreneurial journey and never looked back. The most challenging thing has been juggling my career and being a mom of five. I’ve learned to pace myself, rest often, incorporate my kids into my workdays, and celebrate every win.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first, we’d head straight to 350 Spelman Lane for a tour. I spent 4 of my most pivotal years on the campus of Spelman College. It’s where I learned so much about sisterhood, community, what it means to operate in excellence, and how my contributions as a black woman can impact the world. Friday night we’re hitting up the lobby at The Starling Hotel because the DJ is dope and the vibe is everything. We have to eat at S&M Steakhouse, strictly because the lobster Mac is delicious and the ambiance is top tier. Beyond that, we’re shopping until we can’t shop anymore. From FOX’S in Sandy Springs to The RealReal consignment shop in Buckhead to Labels…I know the best spots with the deepest discounts!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is a group of five people who I dedicate EVERYTHING to: my kids. I love each day in honor of them, because of them, inspired by them, and with the greatest hope that they will take it all and run with it.
