Meet Sharnice Orum | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharnice Orum and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharnice, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As far as risk taking, I feel it’s necessary to set you apart from any other business and/or person. I’ve taken several risk in my business and in all honesty, it has been worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from any other shoetique is I’ve worked in several shoes stores before I started my own. I’ve worked for Hibbetts Sports, Footlocker Company, and City Gear. I know anything there is to know about a shoe.
It was easy to start my own brand because this was something I was passionate about. If you know me personally, I’ve always been into shoes, even at a young age.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to take risks and stand out from everyone else. Never blend in with the rest of the world. There are so many shoetiques and shoe stores out here, so you have to stand apart from them.
What do I want the world to know about my brand is that we’re personable, meticulous, ethical, and bold!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here in Birmingham there are some very laidback places, but you have to find them.
Day:1
First thing first, I would make sure we go to one of my favorite brunch places Ruby Sunshine in Downtown Homewood. Then, I would book us a spa/massage day. I would choose between my two favorite places, Ross Ridge Spa or Stellar Massage. Next, I would take her to my boom nail technician. Lately, I would take her to one of my favorite restaurants called Half Shell Oyster House. Since I’m a Salmon connoisseur, I would highly recommend that option on their menu.
Day 2:
Day two would be a more laidback day. I would take her shopping in the Summit. Go out to each for lunch, and later that night go bar hopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout Amber Brown, for referring me. In addition, I would love to shoutout my team of amazing people, Deb Lester, Haley, and Kamille Black. These ladies have helped me in many ways throughout this journey. For me to say I’m thankful is an understatement. If you don’t know Deb Lester, she’s the dopest marketing coach, ever. Haley is my photographer and content manager. Kamille Black has help me in many ways, she’s my mentor and graphic designer. Of course, none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for my loving parents and God.
