Meet Sharia Livingston | Entrepreneur & Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharia Livingston and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharia, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a single mother who once was a teen mom, I think the most important thing that I have done that has had the greatest impact is continuing to be transparent and taking my daughter on this life journey with me. So often children have this misconception of the things that parents go through to provide a certain life for them.
I have been very open with my daughter and she has seen the highs and lows for us. However, I have made sure I explained both and used our experiences as teaching moments. I also listen. I’ve learned to listen to her. I think it’s important that children know that their thoughts and opinions are important as well.
Overall the transparency and open communication has played a major role in the growth of our relationship over the years.

What should our readers know about your business?
I, alongside my daughter, own a Lifestyle Streetwear brand called Living Rich. Living Rich helps people ignore the society influence and create their own narrative of what it means to Live Rich. Unlike other brands, we create conversation pieces that promote growth and leadership. The goal is to ignite individuality and the life where you control how you define your Rich.
I am most proud of the growth and how much our story and strength have inspired so many others to keep going! Honestly, people telling me this so often is what keeps the fuel in me to keep smashing the gas. Let’s me know it’s so much bigger than apparel.
Building a brand, working, and building a partnership & relationship with my daughter has not been an easy road! We have encountered so many obstacles both personally and professionally along the way but our tenacity was so much stronger than roadblocks. When you know your “Why” and focus on that, nothing can stop you. I’ve been able to block out all the “noise” and keep my eye on the goal.
Throughout the years I have learned to weigh out all experiences and then decide what I am going to do moving forward. That’s actually was one of the many things that inspired me to start my Entrepreneurship business, Rich Scholars. Understanding that there will always be challenges, it was important that I learn from them and become a leader to prevent others from making the same or similar mistakes.
I’ve learned that you’ll never have it all figured out but if you’re not learning you’re not growing. I will always be both the student and the teacher. As I grow I will continue to lead the way in helping others evolve as well. Real Leaders Lead and inspire others to be Leaders too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Actually, I’m not from Atlanta, but I’ve been there more times than I can count since I was a kid. Now, my daughter is a freshman at Spelman College and I’m there pretty often. I’m a foodie and love seafood so I would literally take them to all my favorite restaurants there. Just to name a few, it would be Red Crawfish (either location), Pappadeaux (Windy Hills), C & S oyster bar, and Poor Calvins. I would also have to go to Buckhead nail and toe spa for sure each visit.
I love shopping in Atlanta but when I’m there I actually look for events that are happening at the time versus just visiting some of my similar favorite spots. I have yet to do Stone Mountain though and plan on it soon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shutout my daughter, Sha’Miah Richardson. She has always been my reason to keep fighting and continue to lead the way…
