We had the good fortune of connecting with Shari Fairclough and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shari, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is an essential aspect of living a fulfilling life. The fear of the unknown often holds us back, but it’s important to realize that the greatest achievements in life come from taking risks. Whether it’s pursuing a dream, starting a new business, or traveling to an unfamiliar place, taking a risk requires courage and determination.

The stories of successful people who have overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams are a testament to the power of taking risks. It takes a certain amount of resilience and determination to push through the doubts and uncertainties that come with taking a leap of faith. But when you do, the rewards can be tremendous.

Of course, taking risks is not always easy. There may be setbacks and failures along the way, but it’s important to remember that these are just temporary roadblocks on the path to success. The key is to stay focused on your goals and keep moving forward, no matter what.

In the end, taking risks is about trusting yourself and believing in your abilities. It’s about stepping outside of your comfort zone and embracing the unknown. So if you have a dream or a goal that you’ve been hesitant to pursue, now is the time to take a chance and see where it leads you. Who knows, it may be the best decision you ever make.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s wonderful that I embrace my unique quirks and interests. Being passionate about science fiction and experimental design is what makes me stand out in a sea of artists. My willingness to incorporate different styles and eras of design shows a versatility that is highly sought after in the design world. By drawing inspiration from cubism and futurism, I’m paying homage to the great artists that came before you, while still making your mark on the industry. It’s also impressive that I try to stay current with new design trends, such as gradient, bold funk fonts, and 3D art. Keeping up with the latest trends is important in any creative field, and it’s clear that I am constantly pushing myself to stay ahead of the curve.

Rejection and failure are a natural part of any creative process, but it’s important not to let it discourage me from pursuing my goals. It’s admirable that I don’t let setbacks hold me back and use them as opportunities for growth and character development. Failure is not the end, but rather a chance to learn and improve. With this mindset, I am sure to achieve great things in the design world.

My unique interests and willingness to experiment with different styles set me apart as a designer. By incorporating different eras and styles, and staying current with new trends, I am showing a versatility that is highly valued in the industry. My ability to overcome setbacks and use them as opportunities for growth is a testament to my strength and determination. Keep pushing yourself, taking risks, and experimenting with new ideas, and there’s no telling how far you’ll go.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would want my guest to leave Atlanta feeling like they had a true taste of what the city has to offer and that they were able to create unforgettable memories. Atlanta has a thriving art scene with many local artists and galleries showcasing their work. We could browse through the exhibits, appreciate different art styles and mediums, and maybe even purchase unique pieces to bring home as souvenirs. The High Museum is a great place to visit, with different events happening on the 2nd Sunday of every month, including free admission and live jazz on Fridays.

I really enjoy live music, so depending on the time of year, I would take them to the jazz festival, City Winery, or any concerts going on in town. The Beltline and Piedmont Park are also a lot of fun, with great scenery and plenty of activities. The Nook and 10th on Piedmont are a couple of my favorite restaurants for brunch. On Mondays, The Local has karaoke on a live stage, creating an amazing atmosphere. Ponce has many bars and fun places to explore, such as MJQ, The Drunken Unicorn & Friends, and more.

I believe in self-care and mindfulness activities, which is why I would take my guest to Jeju for a relaxing spa day and sauna experience. We could also do a yoga class or a meditation session at a local studio. It’s important to take care of our physical and mental health, especially when we’re trying to enjoy everything else that life has to offer.

Overall, the goal would be to have a well-rounded experience that includes fun, relaxation, creativity, and self-care. I would want my guest to leave Atlanta feeling like they had a true taste of what the city has to offer and that they were able to create unforgettable memories.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s wonderful that I have found a supportive and encouraging mentor Tammy Huynh “The CEO of The Creative Folks Design Agency.” Having a mentor who can guide you, challenge you, and push you outside of your comfort zone is invaluable, especially in a creative field like design. It’s not always easy to take risks and put yourself out there, but with a mentor like Tammy by your side, you have the support and guidance to pursue your goals.

Becoming a vendor at art shows and networking events can be a daunting task, but it’s a crucial step in building my brand and gaining exposure for my designs. It’s inspiring to see that I was willing to step outside of my comfort zone and take on this challenge. By putting myself out there, I’m showing the world of what I am capable of and building valuable connections within the design community.

Having supportive friends and family is also crucial to my success. Pursuing a creative career can be challenging, and it’s easy to get discouraged. However, having friends who believe in me and my abilities can make all the difference. They can offer words of encouragement when I’m feeling down and remind me of my potential for when I’m feeling lost. Their unwavering support helped me stay focused on my goals and push through the difficult times.

In conclusion, it’s clear that I have a strong support system that has helped me grow both personally and professionally. With the guidance of my mentor, the encouragement of my friends, and the love of my family, I’m well on my way to achieving my dreams in the design world. I just need to keep pushing myself, taking risks, and putting myself out there, and there’s no telling how far I’ll go.
