We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharhonda Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharhonda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My initial thought process behind starting my own business was “Omg! Sharhonda, are you really sure?” I was afraid that my swimwear line wouldn’t be perfect. From day to day, I would have different visions for my brand, but down play it. One day, I had no other choice but to step out on faith and make it happen. Being a plus size woman, I’ve always struggled with finding fashionable swimsuits. Although I’m curvy, I don’t want to be limited to “granny” swimsuits. My ultimate goal is to promote body positivity no matter if you’re a size 2 or 22! Everyone is welcome and accepted with Risqué Swimwear.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Looking back at the beginning of my journey, all I can do is smile. Was it terrifying? Was it overwhelming? Of course, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. There were times when I wanted to say forget it. But in my heart, I knew I couldn’t. I was already too dedicated to offering nothing but the best that I couldn’t give up. So, I’d take a moment to get my thoughts together and keep pushing. Those moments truly made me appreciate everything about my journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh goodness!! Where do I begin?! LOL I love a nice brunch spot, so we would definitely have to go to Milk and Honey, Atlanta Breakfast Club or Negril ATL. For lunch, Slutty Vegan would be hands down the best!! The Sun Dial and The Palm are also my favorite restaurants to visit for dinner. Now I absolutely love to shop lol! Little Five Points, Lenox Mall, Atlantic Station and Ponce City Market are my favorites. Blue Martini and Suite Food Lounge are two places I would go to have cocktails and listen to music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can mention soooooo many people that encouraged me during this journey but we’d be here all day LOL!!  First and foremost, I have to thank my parents(Eugene and Shirley). They’ve always taught me to pray first, and then step out on faith. That’s exactly what I did!! My two older brothers (Duane and JR) have truly been my backbone since the very beginning. They have always been the wind beneath my wings. Lastly, but certainly not least my best friends (Cae’Len, Brittany, Shabria, DaVeda, Diamond and Kaylen) really encouraged me to strive for nothing but greatness and for that I’m forever grateful!
