We had the good fortune of connecting with ShaQuita Pope-Maxwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ShaQuita, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process of starting Jus Networking Girlz was to break the stigma that women can’t get along and everyone has the crab in a barrel mentality. It was needed to show that girl power is not just a phrase but a form of life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the proud founder of World Renown Jus Networking Girlz where we are a group of female entrepreneurs, non profits, politicians, and female business owners who come together to communicate, to celebrate, and collaborate with likeminded women. Ive learned that it doesn’t matter how many people are doing the same thing as you, there is no one else that can do it quite like you. We have our own distinct twist on networking, it’s not just a group that post about their own business but we celebrate when our sisters when and we pray and cry when they take a major lost. We have just celebrated our 7 year anniversary and we are just getting started. My biggest lesson is to get a reliable team around you. No one is meant to walk alone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a laid back chill female so if you come to visit me we are going to enjoy the Alabama Jazz of Fame, visit the McWane Science Center and of Course the Civil Rights Museum. We will eat at various time so various locations such as Yo’ Mama’s, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill and Saw’s Soul Kitchen. Last but not least we will visit my Church Rock City Birmingham my pastor is Stellar Award winner Michael McClure Jr.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to recognize My mom Joyce Harris, my mentor Kimbery Speights, my children Jahniyah and Jordan, My supportive Husband Michael and the ladies of Jus Networking Girlz.
