We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaquan Coburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaquan, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Mansfield, Ohio. My background has taught me a lot, I lived in the Midwest, surrounded by cornfields and land. Heavy winters. Ohio has always reminded to be humble and never forget where I come from!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Honestly, I’m still working everyday. I’m still not where I want to be, everyday is a process for me. I’m most proud of starting my brand, “the only failure is not to try” quote by Virgil Abloh, when I moved to Atlanta in 2020. I told myself I want to make my own clothes, learn how to cut and sew, make patterns, screenprint etc. and that’s what I did. Told myself to get out my head and do it! Lessons I have learn is NEVER take anything from granted. I wouldn’t be here without God. Everyday He wakes me up is a blessing! I’m most proud of starting my brand, DivineMnds.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Haha, that’s funny because my friends come out here all the time and see me. Truthfully we will usually go out to some stores, like goodtimes or even hit some thrift stores. We all love to shop. If we wanted to go get food it depends on how we are feeling, I’m always down for a shake shack burger. But either than that we work at my house, find inspiration and just talk, me and my bro JP is starting our own project and been working on it since.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Family, they always keeps me going 100%. I was raised in a home with four older brothers. Without them I wouldn’t be here, they push me to keep going and stay true to who I am!

I’m thankful for my bros here in Atlanta. Coup, Zay, Brandon, Tyler and Cyrus, They have helped me with so much and also lend a hand with pushing my ideas out.

Also shoutout to my closest friends. JP, Jordyn, And Jamario. We all went to school together and they always support me in anything I want to do.
