We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanya Anderson Shalyn Vanderhorst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanya Anderson, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
How we came up with The Suite Dream Club is that we both wanted to fill a void when it came down to writing books and confidence building for tweens. In today’s society, young girls and tweens don’t have many positive role models to look up to and something that represents them as a whole. We wanted to build a brand that targets both of those issues and focuses on chasing their dreams, no matter the circumstances they may have to face. We also teach children how to write books. There are so many creative children who have bright ideas for a book but don’t know where or how to start, so we figured we can help there as well.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it came to the creative process, we wanted to be eye-catching, bold, and fun. What sets The Suite Dream Club apart is that we focus on book writing, confidence building, mental health, and careers for young girls and tweens. Most excited about the rise of young and confident book writers we are going to help become published authors. We are still just beginning our journey and whenever we feel discouraged, we remember that isn’t about us, it’s about developing and encouraging young girls to be confident in who they are, no matter what they go through. What we want the world to know about our brand is that The Suite Dream Club represents the everyday girl. Young girls can relate to The Suite Dream Club and see themselves, but always remember to chase their dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were coming to visit, I would take them to Downtown Atlanta! There are always different events going on and there is some sightseeing. First, I would take my friend to the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola. Afterwards, I would take them to one of the many brunch spots they have in the area. Another day I would take my friend is a day at the Atlanta Zoo, which I know that she has a love for animals. If she wanted to have a relaxing day, we can go to the beautiful Piedmont Park and enjoy the sunshine! The best for last would be Skyview Atlanta and Center For Puppetry Arts.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our mother, Shannon. ‘Poshe” Anderson has been a crucial part of our book writing success as she is an author herself. She helps us with the goal, purpose, and structure of our brand. Without her, we wouldn’t have had much clarity and focus when seizing opportunities and achieving our goals. She is there to hold our hand every step of the way while giving us the love and encouragement we need to be successful.
