Meet Shantelle Patton | Minority Business Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shantelle Patton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shantelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started That Brown Bag as a passion project. Seeing that there was a disconnect between the consumer and local black owned businesses, I sought out to bridge the gap. During the evolution of the directory, I found I had a very valuable and scalable product that would help to enrich the quality of life in my community

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
That Brown Bag is a work of art. It is a visual representation of the skills, talents, and gifts that my people possess.. I created the directory to be a community resource that is both visually engaging and informative. The pages are crafted to keep you turning them and continuing your journey of supporting Black owned businesses and black led organizations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Pausa Art House-Live music Buffalo Kitchen Club-Restaurant & live music
Princessa’s Studio & Art Gallery
Poize NightClub/Lounge
Ujima Theater

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to black business owners everywhere. To those brave enough to take an idea from their head and heart and bring it to life is no small feat. As long as you keep showing up to your dreams, I will amplify it.
