We had the good fortune of connecting with Shantel SolE’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shantel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I view risks as an opportunity to exercise my faith. I have had many situations in my life where my back was against the wall and I had to risk it all. I have had to risk walking away from labels, moving to another country, and relocating my business to another state. As an entrepreneur risks are part of betting on yourself. As an independent artist it can be scary to bet yourself especially in the music industry. But every risk I chose to take taught me a lesson on what I can do better next time. No matter how things look or how impossible the situation may seem. As long I keep the faith and stay focused no risk is too great.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an international singer/songwriter/Entertainer. I have a unique sound that captures the soul of the past but has a fresh futuristic twist. It’s something that only your ears can interpret, a vibe that can’t be explained. Performing and Entertaining is what really sets me apart from others. I have the rhythm, tunes, and moves to light up any room or venue. Right now I’m most excited about my new sound. My music has always been a reflection of my life, and right now I am in a great space. My music that’s coming is going to blow your mind. It’s upbeat, uplifting, and it will make you want to dance.
I got to where I am today professionally by being discipline. I used my 5 years of experience to start my business as Freelance Voice Artist. I was tired of working a 9-5 that I wasn’t passionate about and decided I would research all I needed to know about the freelance market. I realized that my voice is a gift that can be used for so much more than just artistry. It was overwhelming at first, being that it was so much new information to learn. It took detailed planning, block scheduling, designated study times, and countless pages of notes but it all paid off. I changed my mindset from worker to business owner. I am constantly learning and pushing my business to constantly provide top notch voice talent and writing services.
I want the world to know that my brand stands for taking the leap of faith and believing in oneself no matter what. I focus on being the best version of myself in every aspect of a singer/songwriter.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not big on the night life unless I have an event to attend. But if I had a friend in town I would definitely hit “Mics Karaoke ” a karaoke bar. It’s a super chill and exclusive vibe. You can rent rooms and have your personal turn up session. I’m not too sure about club spots because I’m still getting acquainted with ATL but personally I like museums. Most of my friends are into esthetic like me so mimosas then a museums would be a cute vibe.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I have to thank God. Nothing I do is in my own strength, without Him I wouldn’t even be here. I definitely have to give a HUGE shoutout to my engineer/manager Supreme. He’s been recording me for years now and has helped me navigate through this cutthroat industry. He deserves so much recognition for his mixing/mastering skills, I’ve watched him grow from an intern to being one of the most skilled engineers in VA. He has pushed me so much as an artist and I can’t wait to see where we go from here. Lastly my family deserves so much credit. My mom, dad, and my brothers have been right there through the ups and down of my career. They were so supportive last year when Supreme and I decided to move to ATL to pursue our careers in music. That meant so much to me to have my family on board with my dreams and goals. And of course my #Tribesole has been there since year 1.
