We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanna Forrestall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets the work I do with Jeff Gold under the My Calm World and Fire and Water Music labels apart, is our empathy and non traditional storytelling. Since we started working together, we’ve focused on telling stories that matter to us. We cross genres and create a variety of products, but we want to be known for our authenticity and empathy.

I lost my husband unexpectedly in 2020 during the Covid lockdown and Jeff took me under his wing and helped me to focus on rebuilding my life by telling stories. It was the best healing catalyst I could find. He understood because he’d lost a spouse a few years before as well.

People always ask me if I knew I would be an actress when I was a child, but what I remember most was sitting in my closet writing lyrics and short stories and “producing” creative stories with my friends and family members. I love acting, but at heart I’m a storyteller. I love using my imagination to create stories told through music and short stories that inspire, motivate, challenge and heal.

We have a lot of new content coming out this year, that is our best yet. We continue to work on improving our workflow and content and we are now looking to find a worldwide audience to support our brand so we can continue to create.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Gosh, I love Atlanta. I currently live in Chattanooga, but I’m there often. I love that the city is vibrant, has a diverse music scene and delicious international foods, as well as unique shopping. I also really enjoy art and nature, so I’d highly recommend the SCAD museum and the Botanical Gardens. I’ve been spending some time in the EAV recently (East Atlanta Village) and I love meandering this area. It’s perfect for great eats like So Ba Vietnamese Restaurant, for listening to local music and for getting that next tattoo you know you can’t avoid. 😉

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Jeff Gold, my music partner. After I wrote my first children’s story he reached out about working on more children’s content together. Jeff has been writing beautiful instrumental music for years and together we have branched out to create music in a variety of genres, meditations and a variety of children’s content including a collection of bedtime stories that include animation and illustration by young people on the autism spectrum. His belief in me, his ongoing commitment to our work and the families we create for is a gift I am so grateful for. You can learn more about our work at www.MyCalmWorld.com.
