We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanelle Farr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanelle, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I was a little girl writing music has always been my passion. I remember sitting in my room for hours each day brainstorming my next song or next melody. I was born to be a star, so it’s just naturally been apart of my life for as long as I can recall.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that I had to work extremely hard to get to this point. I remember writing music that was not even close to what I’m writing today. I believed in myself and that’s what lead me to bigger and better things. I didn’t give up even when I wanted to a thousand times. I’m a fighter and I promise what ever obstacle I face I will overcome. Furthermore, I am excited about the completion of my album. It took me months to arrange and write this 15 song album, and I just can’t wait for the world to hear it.
I just want the world to know that hard work pays off.
I want the world to know that I was born for this and I am coming for everything that I know I deserve.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So I have a best friend that resides in Arizona, and when she decides to visit here’s where I would take her; I would advise her to stay at one of the top hotels downtown Chicago. Then, I would do dinner with her at some fine steakhouses downtown, along with some other fine restaurants. I would also take her to visit a few of the museums and aquariums around the city. Furthermore, we would probably check out the house of blues if there happens to be some good events going on during the time of her stay. Last but not least, depending on the season I would take her to visit navy pier and definitely get on a few boat cruises and events that happen with navy pier.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like give credit to both of my parents. My mother and father who are no longer here, but the both of them played a major role in my decision to pursue a music career. I remember being a little girl and my mother and father would always tell me I was going to be a star someday. They never doubted my abilities and now that they are no longer here I feel like I have to go even harder because I just want to make them proud. I know their still watching me, and everyday I walk around with two angels. So I know the sky is really the limit at this point.
