We had the good fortune of connecting with Shana Jobes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shana, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would say that the most important factor behind my success/ the success of my brand is my ability to be consistent. My determination to succeed and my resilience. I’m also very passionate about what I do, and I believe that it makes a huge difference in the quality of my work. I go the extra mile to make my clients feel special and I really love what I do. Lashing is an art. I love making my clients look and feel beautiful. I love teaching the skill and most importantly, I take pride in my work. All of these factors contribute to the success of my brand.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Master lash artist, educator and future Esthetician. I am the proud owner of EyeCandyBeauty LLC, located in Baltimore, MD. I specialize in lash extensions, trainings and other beauty services. What sets me apart from others in this industry is my passion for what I do. I love making women feel more beautiful and confident in their skin. In 2017 invested in an industry I loved, stayed consistent and its been life changing. I love teaching others the art of lashing and how to run a successful lash business as well.
My commitment to my clients, My professionalism and my drive to succeed plays a major role in the success of my business. Although I still have a way to go, I’m really proud of how far I’ve come throughout the years, and I have to remember to stop and give myself credit for how far I’ve come already. It wasn’t easy becoming a successful lash artist. There are a lot of sacrifices that have to be made. Alot of time and money goes into practicing, researching, building, learning and networking, but it was definitely one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s not just a hobby or side hustle for me. I run a business. I take it seriously and have been very successful at it for about 4 years now. It gets overwhelming at times being a mom of 2 as well, and it is very easy to get “burnt out” but I am learning how important it is to have a balance.
I’m truly grateful to work in a field I love, on my own terms and make good money. Being a lash artist/business owner has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone in a major way. I’ve grown a lot. I have learned a lot and have made a lot of genuine connections in which I am thankful for. One thing that I’ve learned is that if you believe in yourself, stay consistent and put in the work, you can literally accomplish anything you want to.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area and wanted to hang out I would more than likely have a spa day planned. Full body massages, nails. Of course, good food would be involved! An ice-cream date is a must! Definitely take her to Fed. Hill in MD to chill. We would probably go to a nice lowkey spot with good vibes and drinks too, Maybe visit a museum one of those days or a comedy show would be nice too. I love to laugh, be around good energy and just have fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Truly thankful for anyone who has ever supported me in any way! Whether it’s a recommendation or referral via word of mouth, whether it’s a like, comment or share on social media, whether it’s a compliment. Shout out to my clients for being awesome and continuing to choose me! Shout out to my mother for being one of my biggest supporters. Shout out to friends and family for coming through for me when I was just starting out and needed a model. Shout out to the friends and bonds I’ve built with other business owners along the way and a very special shout out to my Love for always being there for me, encouraging me, believing in me, motivating me, being super helpful and so supportive throughout this journey.
