We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamira Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamira, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
To totally surrender my business to God. To make Him my business partner. To let Him know that the success of my business ultimately depends on Him. Incorporating biblical principles throughout my business was major. Seeking Him first and allowing Him to add to my business. Also, getting to a space where it was just me and Him and allowing Him to give me ideas, business plans, and tools that I need to be successful. Understanding that my company was ultimately to bring God glory is always vital.

What should our readers know about your business?
So my business started off as strictly dispatch. I gained the experience from an amazing mentor and also taking a dispatching courses.

I wanted to learn and understand more of the industry. I wanted to be more of an asset to my carriers so I got my CDL. It took four weeks for me. Aced the test the first time. I signed up with Swift. I was part of their Top Gun Program. Which was a training program that utilized simulations as well as practice with backing maneuvers. After that I did four weeks OTR (over the road) with my trainer. I drove from SC to Texas. I drove all the way to Cali. I also drove from Washington state to New Jersey and made my way back to SC.
After that I upgraded to a solo driver by testing out of their Mentee program. This consisted of a written test, road test, and backing test.

Next was my solo driver journey. It was here that I learned what it was like being a driver. I learned what some of the tools, equipment, processes, permits and more that was needed in order to operate a trucking company the smart way. I learned about ways of saving money and how to book loads.

So I gathered all of this knowledge and tools and started to offer it to carriers. I was able to make connections so that others were also able to offer these tools to their carriers. Some of the things my company offers include truck financing, insurance, setting up trucking company authorities, dispatching, roadside assistance, legal services, and much more. We are truly a one stop shop.

One big thing that makes my company different is I believe what does it matter if you’re a success and you’re not helping others. So not only am I able to equip clients but I empower others to do the same. That’s multiplication my dear which is a Kingdom principle. Praise God!

My company is still growing. God has given me strategies on what to do next so definitely stay tuned for our growth.

God really gave me grace through this trucking process. That’s one way I see that He has been with me. I’ve learned to totally depend on God. I learned that if we wait and do not just business but life His way, He’ll give us interest.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my city, Columbia, SC, I’d say a good place to hang out would be The Christian Lounge of Columbia located at 7751 Fairfield Road. They have great food and Gospel Artists you can check out. So if you’re looking for a wholesome music and good people make sure to visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All Glory first and foremost to God. He is my everything. He is my Rock, Foundation, Business Partner , Friend, and more.

Also to my family. For supporting me and encouraging me through this journey. As I was away from home traveling across America driving an 18 wheeler through different states. Allowing me to learn the industry and myself.
