We had the good fortune of connecting with Shameer Lorde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shameer, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been a creative person. My journey with music started since I was a baby. Being in the military showed me what the world was like and also how short life can be. Also, went to culinary school because that is a passion of mine. Also, I believe best way to help others is when you are authentically yourself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well my art is story telling, I want my listeners to gain something from listening to music. Whether that be inspiration, motivation, let them know they’re not alone and that all their dreams are possible. I just want to reach as much people as possible. I got here through trial and error. Right now in school to become a better audio engineer as well as artist. It wasn’t easy by any means but I knew that if I wanted to help change lives had to be more action forward. Lessons I learned is nothing is as hard as it seems, and it gets better. I want the world to know we can do everything that the government or better yet society says we shouldn’t.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I am from Brooklyn, NY currently living in Florida. If I were to go back to my hometown, definitely would have to hit up Coney Island. Hitting the boardwalk as well as Atlantic City which is in New Jersey. Whenever I am in New York, I like to get my share of boils. There is actually a place called The Boil which has amazing food to. include their boil. Probably do something active like indoor rock climbing. Seeing the sites and maybe seeing a Broadway show while out there. In NY there is countless things to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to say probably all my brothers who I have been fortunate to meet on my journey, Hyena family that made me realize how important it was just to dream and go for those dreams, and of course my wife without her support, love and encouragement I wouldn’t be stepping out the box.
