We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamarie Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamarie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

My thought process behind starting my business was really just me wanting to make women feel special and embracing their true beauty without breaking the bank. I have always loved make up and had a passion for it. In 2020 I sat down and asked myself how can I help women and tie my passion into it as well.  I wrote down several business names and ideas. I was interested in so much and  a lot of which I thought I would be good at, but cosmetics stood out to me the most. Even in high school I constantly had lip gloss on or had several lipglosses in my purse. Once I decided that cosmetics was for me I started to get signs of confirmation that I was making the right decision.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What set my business apart is that not only do we sell luxury make up products these products are also vegan and cruelty free! Which is really important to me because I’m always being cautious of what I put on my lips or face so I made sure the products I’m selling where including all the things I look for in other make up products as well.

I first started my business in April 2020, but I really didn’t start taking it seriously until this year. It has not been easy, but I truly have a passion for what I do. When I’m faced with challenges I think about my reasons for me doing this in the first place. I truly want to help women’s confidence so I know in the end all of it will be worth it.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned so far is that consistency is really key. You have to show up for your business everyday just like you show up for your 9-5. One other lesson I’ve learned is that you cannot compare yourself to other. You don’t know the challenges they have faced or how long they have been at it. Everyone has a journey of their on.

I want the world to know that my brand is about empowering women and boosting confidence. That all women are special and they should feel the same way about themselves. Although you don’t need make up to feel beautiful I want to help add to women’s confidence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Atlanta has so many great places to visit. I really love eating and pampering myself. I would definitely take her to Ponce City Market. They have a lot of shops and eating places in that area. I would also take her to Edgewood. Edgewood have a lot of good bars for some drinks and good vibes. We would visit Treat Your Feet for some good massages. I would also take her to Little Alley Steakhouse for a really nice dinner. We would visit the High Museum and after walk the Atlanta Belt line. We would even hit up sound lounges like Elleven45. It’s so much to do in Atlanta it’s impossible to be bored.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give credit to my mom. She is my motivation for a lot of the stuff I do. My goal is to always make her proud. Ever since I was little it as always been just my mom I. I could never repay her for all she has done for me. I also would like to give credit to my Aunt, she always supports me and gives amazing words of advice. I always know she’s one call away. Those two women mean so much to me and I aspire to be at least half the woman they are.
