We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamara Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamara, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the most important lessons that my business has taught me is ” Nothing in life is easy ” I say that because there are some people who thinks once starting a side hustle or a side business that everything will just happen overnight. I’ve been into the entrepreneurship for 4 years now and I can definitely say that I am still learning a lot. You will have to work hard for what you are expecting out of your business. I’m a huge fan of knowledge is free. Take time to sit down and research the information you are needing to help you grow, as well as your business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being that I’m a very creative person I knew that I would have to incorporate that into my business. I believe that having your own aesthetic when running a business is very important. You do not want to look like the next person. You would want to stand out and reach your own target audience. So, I believe that me having my own aesthetic and understanding that I run my business and not trying to be in competition with others, will get me far. Just by simply being myself. Some lessons that I have learned along the way are some people are watching you to support you and some are watching you just to watch you. I want the world to know that I stick out with my brand by hand making some of my products. I look for specific type of products and only desire to have top quality products for my customers and makeup artists that I collaborate with.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from a small city called Valdosta. If a friend was visiting the area, I would first take them to a nice sit-down restaurant. I like the fact that Valdosta is starting to grow with more businesses and things to do. We have a new restaurant called Fins and Feathers, I love the vibe and I know my friend would love it as well. For a night out with a good drink I would take my friend to the bars and meet with my favorite bartender’s name Vonney. She will make sure you have a great night with good drinks. The bowling alley and the many places downtown would be enjoyment as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without having my customers, there wouldn’t be no True Beauty Palace. I first have to thank God for allowing me to be in a better position with my business. I’ve watched my business grow, as well as myself over the past four years. Starting off my business while sitting on a living room to now having my own business room is a blessing itself. I’m so grateful and blessed for all the support from every customer and every order that I’ve received. I know that my business will continue to flourish, I will reach even more customers and I will have returning customers.
