We had the good fortune of connecting with Shala Konomi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shala, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I dropped out of college after two years, and I always felt self-conscious about it. I was waitressing and felt like it was a dead-end path, and I’ll never be able to support a family.

As I was getting older and creating a serious relationship with my now husband I knew I needed to create a career where I can make good money, do what I love, and have the flexibility to be home with my future kids. I’m a very intuitive person and I can see the future so clearly with my husband, and the life we live. That vision propelled me into creating Saje and Luna.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Saje and Luna is a holistic practice that holds space for people interested in finding healing within themselves and connecting to a deeper mission that unlocks their personal power. Through intention candles, yoga, tarot reading, and birth work I help create awareness cultivate trust, and affirmation, and support others through their healing journey.

My road to Saje and Luna has not been easy. My business is constantly evolving and shifting through ebbs and flows. Motherhood is probably the biggest obstacle in my journey. I am staying a home mom of a two-year-old and this has made me step back from birth work. Birth doula work is very demanding and I couldn’t see myself leaving my baby for many unknown amounts of hours. This prompted me to create my intention candles.

Up until last year, I was always a service-based business since 2017. I’ve always practiced with my own candle magic and started learning how to create my own to sell to the world. Motherhood still limits how much time I can dedicate to creating and doing the back end of my business. I am still juggling with setting boundaries, creating a plan, and sticking to it.

I want the world to know that Saje and Luna’s brand is built by an everyday woman looking to do what’s best for my family, and myself, and cultivate healing for others. I’ve done a lot of spiritual work to be where I’m at now and still doing it. In the future, I hope to create more community offerings to hold space for parents, and people seeking healing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I am new to Atlanta and have not explored as much as I would like.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to my husband for honoring my gifts and visions. Always being by my side and supporting my risk-taking nature. Also, my father for showing that being your own boss is possible. He was planting seeds in me as a young girl without knowing it.
