Meet Shakira Shenee’ & Rumana Sultana

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shakira Shenee’ & Rumana Sultana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shakira Shenee’ & Rumana Sultana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
At Sultana Collective, we see risk as something not to fear, but a necessary ingredient for growth. Risk has been the throughline in our careers for both of us, especially when the traditional paths didn’t quite fit. Taking risks has meant betting on ourselves, our vision, and on building something that didn’t yet exist in the way we dreamed it could.
Rumana’s journey has always been about carving out space where purpose and performance meet. Leaving behind corporate comfort to start her consultancy and then co-creating Sultana Collective meant taking a strategic risk that was rooted in values — one that’s allowed her to build with intention and shape culture, not just respond to it.
For Shakira, risk looked like stepping outside the lines of a very structured beauty industry role to lean into storytelling, strategy, and education on her own terms. Each move, from taking on new markets to launching events in unexpected ways, was calculated but courageous. And each risk has ultimately brought her closer to her purpose.
At Sultana Collective, we take risks together, based on strategy and experience. That’s the beauty of collaboration. We weigh the risks, but we also share the leap. Whether we’re building brands from scratch, entering new markets, or pushing the edge of creative strategy, we don’t take risks for the sake of being bold—we take them because we believe in creating something better.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sultana Collective was created with one goal in mind: We bring brands, founders, and influential people to their audiences through storytelling, strategy, and activation.
What sets us apart is how we do it — We’ve built a network of top talent and industry leaders to deliver premium results for our clients. Individually, we’re all experts at our craft, but together, we’re limitless, and this ethos fuels the Collective’s ability to develop fresh, innovative strategies that help brands stand out and truly thrive.
Whether we’re launching brands into new markets, refining marketing and brand strategy, or building campaigns that resonate on a deeper level, we’re always guided by purpose and driven by results. We take pride in doing things differently, no copy-paste formulas, no fluff, just deeply thoughtful, high-impact work tailored to each client’s unique DNA.
Building something original and unique requires resilience, alignment, and a deep belief in your vision. We’ve faced challenges, but we’ve moved through them by staying true to our values and our “WHY”. At the end of the day, Sultana Collective isn’t just a business, it’s a collaborative movement rewriting the way brands grow. And we’re just getting started.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love to show our friends a good time. We’re major foodies so that always takes precedence.
