We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth Michaels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seth, how do you think about risk?
The higher the risk the higher the reward. I never expected to live an ordinary life, that could mean many different things to different people. As for myself, I always jump first, no time to dip the toes in the water first. That has awarded me with great things and also not so great things, but regardless it is the journey and the experience that I yearn for, not the end result.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I Started acting back in 1998, that is when I moved to Hollywood. I studied under great teachers like Eric Morris, a wonderful and well respected acting teacher. From then I went into your typical acting rollercoaster from booking jobs to being homeless to more bookings. After 17 years in Hollywood I relocated to Atlanta, GA. Producing is what brought me here. Now with over 30 features between my producing partner and I, there is no stopping us, we are constantly busy and booked until Fall of 2023. And I get to do both acting and producing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m probably the wrong person to ask this, I’m not one who goes out a lot. I am a homebody, I do a lot of reading, cook a lot and play with my dog. I do have some spots that I take producer/directors/actors when they come in town, like Barcelona in Inman park. Also I love Thai food, so I got into little 5 points at Thai 5. Pho is something I love too, so Vietvana is a place near my house that I visit quite often. Landmarks there is always Stone Mountain, Downtown Decatur, Midtown with friends, Virginia Highlands. I do love Dekalb farmers market, I love taking people there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As you are young and not knowing anyone in the industry I’m in, I always felt like I was all alone, what I realized later in my career that it is not always true. There are so many people that I owe my career to, agents, family, friends, casting directors, investors, advisors, my 7th grade English teacher, my 10th grade math professor and my 12th grade HS soccer coach. To this day I keep finding mentors, a support group, my agents and people I meet through my line of work.
