Hi SeQuoria, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance… I typically work 4 days a week and am off 3 days . I love the balance and my days off give me one day to recharge, one to reset and a third to do whatever I didn’t accomplish during the other two. Definitely being a single mom it’s important that I make time .

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a master cosmetologist that specializes in natural hair care and color . I’ve rebranded myself quite a few times as I’ve grown in the business but my last rebranding has been the most important. Nova Naturals Salon Studio is a boutique style natural hair salon suite . I offer amazing services in a punctual fashion as well as a private setting . It gives my clients the space to unwind and sometimes vent without the fear of judgement. It’s not been easy and I still very well face the challenges of marketing myself better as well as incurring slow seasons . I’d like the world to know that there are still some amazing stylists out here that don’t have a million followers but will still perform and treat you like a person and not just a customer .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s start with a girls day at Jeju getting pampered, maybe hit the Avalon for some shopping as well as stopping at my favorite pizza place Antico’s and dessert and coffee at Cafe Intermezzo . Beyond that you’d probably find us at Sephora with the gworls or a good bookstore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to God first … that’s the reason that I’m still here and still going strong . The resilience that I was given is truly a gift from above . Also a big thank you to my mom (Demita Mintz) she’s my best friend and biggest supporter. To my children Cameron and Lyric .. I do this for you ! No dream is too big ! Lastly I’d like to thank my clients because without them there would be no business.
