We had the good fortune of connecting with Sejal Vaidya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sejal, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from India and Music is an inseparable part of Indian Culture which reflects how the nation is diversified for its cultures, language, food, and people. Indian music heritage is an ever-expanding treasure that is passed down from generation to generation. I was fortunate enough to have my Two classical vocal music Gurus in my life who imparted their knowledge of Indian classical music to me for more than 10 years. Growing up in India, I have given numerous performances with the blessings and support of my Gurus and Family. After moving to USA in 2006, I decided to share my music knowledge with Kids and adults as Music is nothing but a form of expression and communication, helping to spread ideas and values that shape society. It’s no wonder then that music is such an important part of our culture.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Indian classical vocalist specializing in North Indian music called Hindustani Classical music with years of training and experience.

Music is my passion and my life. I am always excited to share my music knowledge in whatever way I can on a daily basis. I love to teach, perform and compose music.

Quality matters! I started teaching music And became popular gradually because of my quality and knowledge of music which sets me apart from others . With Gods grace and the support of my family, I have not faced many difficulties to be honest as I firmly believe that Music is a Mantra and I am the chosen one to spread this to the world !

I believe in giving opportunities to students whenever they are ready! I am a performer so I make my students to be not only a good singer but a performer! Stage Performances not only bring happiness but also boost the self confidence, remove stage fear and enforce hard-work, most important qualities of the leadership!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love nature! My city is full of beautiful places for hiking. We have Gardens, Monuments, beautiful places of worship like Temples and Churches and not to forget our amazing three universities, the reason why my City Raleigh is known as The Research Triangle!

To plan a weeklong trip, i would cover Duke Gardens, Duke Chapel, Three major universities, Beautiful trails of Umstead Naure park, Boating in Jordon Lake. We have oceans and mountains just a couple of hours away from Raleigh too. For Kids and adults we have amazing museums in the city of Raleigh and Durham. North Carolina Museum of Art Is the largest museum of art and it should not be missed by anyone no matter if you’re an art lover or not! Marbles kids museum is a fun place for kids!

I love all cuisines but Indian, Italian and Thai food are on my top favorites!

I would recommend Urban Angithi for Indian Cuisine, Baan Thai for Thai cuisine and Vivo Ristorante Pizzeria for Italian.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Apart from my Gurus and Parents, My Maternal uncle Dr. Desai from India has a major role in my life as he first recognized my singing abilities when I was about 5 year old and encouraged my mom to find a music teacher for me. Since then I have been fully enjoying my musical journey by teaching, learning and performing.
