We had the good fortune of connecting with Seirra Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seirra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a child, I enjoyed organizing, and I vividly remember setting aside time to organize my room, a room I shared with my sister. I would organize my side of the room and sometimes her side also to place items in neat piles or throw away papers and products I no longer felt a need to keep. During the pandemic, I was reminded of my passion for organizing when I saw my cousin getting her closet organized by her best friend. Instantly, it was like a light bulb went off in my head, reminding me of how much I enjoyed doing the exact same thing and how beneficial it was to spread my gift with those who needed organizing services. I began doing the necessary research for starting a business, and I reached out to ask others already established within the organizing industry for their thoughts and feedback. Step by step I created Nicely Placed Organizing LLC, and I’m enjoying the journey of building this business and continuing to grow and expand, all while providing a greater impact to the community we serve.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nicely Placed Organizing provides organizing services to our clients’ homes, offices, and art studios/workspaces with the goal of clearing their clutter, getting them out of the house on time, and ensuring they meet their deadlines without compromise. Our core principles are authenticity, honesty, and community because we value our clients’ ability to trust us, know that we mean well, and recognize that we’re here to continue providing support and encouragement along their lifelong journey of organizing. Our goal to organize with each individual’s personality and lifestyle in mind sets us apart by ensuring we’re organizing to fit the exact needs of those who occupy the space. Explained more, we offer virtual organizing sessions where we meet our clients where they are and guide them one step closer to organizing their spaces confidently on their own. Through our podcast, Organizing Untold on YouTube, we also introduce our community to others who are now confident in their own organizing journeys, and with this relatability, our podcast serves as another avenue through which we can meet those who may not be confident yet in organizing where they are and show them that developing confidence in this area is achievable. I’m most proud of my current and previous clients who didn’t see themselves getting to where they are now in their organizing journey. Many of them have started organizing on their own during the times when we aren’t present in their physical spaces, and I enjoy hearing and seeing the projects they complete on their own.

I got to where I am today in business by surrounding myself with like-minded individuals and supportive community, deciding to take risks and choosing to keep moving forward, even in fear. It wasn’t easy, but I have sought out and continue to seek guidance, business coaching and mentorship from my local business resources and successful entrepreneurs who openly share their lessons so that those of us in future generations can learn from their mistakes and excel along with them. A few lessons I have learned are to never forget my why, take accountability for myself, my actions, habits, and everything that leads to my successes or lack thereof, develop a consistent routine of completing income-producing tasks, and continue to seek out ways to expand my network. I want the world to know that we’re all more than capable of enjoying the life we live, even if this means creating it ourselves. With previous dreams to become a pediatrician before choosing to venture into building a business, there are times where I didn’t see this being what God had in store for my life, but I’m extremely fulfilled in what I do and in how I serve those around me through Nicely Placed Organizing LLC.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I would visit one museum a day and a few hiking trails in the area. On Tuesday evening, we would go to Mad Miles Run Club to give her the full experience of the run club, and depending on the season, we’d get tickets to see the Charlotte Knights or the Hornets play. I’d also take her to a Charlotte is Creative event and/or a networking event in the area because we both enjoy building community, making new connections, and meeting new people. We both also like to cook at home, but some of the restaurants and coffee shops we’d grab food and drinks from are Hestia Rooftop and Night Swim Coffee. We’d end our time together with a self-care day at the spa.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to recognize my parents, family, friends, and everyone I’ve met for their support and the roles they’ve all played in my success thus far. I truly believe we were made to go through life in community, and through the journey of being a business owner, professional organizer, and the many other roles I play in life, I’ve had the opportunity to meet amazing people, some of whom are responsible for pivotal moments in my life. A few people I’d like to specifically recognize include Gabby of The Next Generation Network and Tiya of The Black Entrepreneurs Network. These women are great leaders, connectors, and community builders who have supported me throughout my entrepreneurial journey, and they are part of the reason I enjoy networking and having the opportunity to meet new people daily. Their arms and impact extend far and wide, and through this, they remain kind-spirited and open for casual talk, brainstorming, and hosting mastermind events. I’m inspired by them and their willingness to be the change they want to see in this world, and I’m excited to be a part of the many things they’re continuing to bring to fruition.
