We had the good fortune of connecting with Seema Giri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seema, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

In my business journey, I’ve always focused on helping people grow. After successfully running my Project Management business, where I supported 100,000 leaders and Fortune 500 companies in reaching their project goals and strategic objectives, I noticed a difference in how men and women saw their success and confidence in aiming for leadership roles. That’s when it hit me—I wanted to create a community to uplift women.

Every woman, no matter where she’s from or what situation she’s in, should know she matters and has a unique story. I’m all about helping women start their own businesses and economies. I believe in giving them the power to share their stories and make the impact in the world that they are meant to make.

Guiding women through publishing their books and becoming best-selling authors has proven to be a powerful way to lift them up and encourage authentic leadership.

What should our readers know about your business?
My most significant business challenge has been selling my own services—it often felt like I was selling myself. I found it easier to promote someone else’s product or service than my own. Throughout my life, I was taught not to boast about my accomplishments, as it was seen as bragging, which didn’t sit well with me. However, in business, showcasing expertise, the number of people served, and client testimonials is crucial.

I had to learn to truly own my worth and understand that if I don’t share my story, people won’t know about me. The support of my mentors and coaches played a vital role in overcoming these challenges. One mentor emphasized that practice makes it permanent.

What I’m most proud of is having the courage to consistently step out of my comfort zone to serve my tribe. This has led to a significant achievement during the pandemic, where I helped 100 women become best-selling authors within 18 months. 100 women who are making extraordinary impact in making this world a better place to live.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Living in the Bay Area gives me the chance to show my out-of-town friends some awesome spots. Here are a few favorites:

San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge: An iconic must-see with stunning views.

Fort Bragg: A quaint coastal town for a relaxing getaway.

Golden Gate Park: Beyond the bridge, it’s got cool spots like the Conservatory of Flowers and great light shows.

Redwood Parks: Nature lovers, these towering trees are a must-visit.

Palace of Fine Arts: A beautiful spot that combines architecture and tranquility. Sometimes you get to observe film shootings.

When it comes to food, I love checking out smaller local joints. They serve up tasty, authentic dishes, and the cozy vibe makes the experience even better. It’s the perfect way to share the Bay Area’s flavors with friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Much like the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child,” I’ve realized that having a supportive community is crucial for success in life. In this phase of my life, stepping into my power and launching my own business has been made possible with the unwavering support of my husband, Upendra, and my children, Aman and Ashima. They’ve been my constant mirrors, reflecting my capabilities and highlighting areas where I needed to skill up.

Throughout this journey, I’ve also sought specialized support from various coaches and mentors, recognizing the value of their guidance and expertise in helping me navigate the path to success. I am grateful to each one of them of.
