We had the good fortune of connecting with Scheronda Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scheronda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to build a business for fashion forward women with unique curves like myself. I had gotten tired of going into every day stores struggling to find clothes that fit properly. Either they were too big, too small, fit in some places, or hung off in others. Shopping for me became a nightmare. And like most women caused anxiety because of the stress of not finding what looked good on my body shape. The Curvy Diva Boutique was created for all size curves from petite to plus to enhance the beauty of a woman, and bring out the Greatness within.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Getting started wasn’t easy. I had the backing of mentors teaching me their style, and the one key, is finding what works for you. There are so many businesses, great businesses that all do what I do. But finding that one niche that makes me different and stand out took some time. I’ve learned to trust my instincts and even when it appears no one is looking, someone is paying attention. I want the world to know that my clothing brand and story is built for the average person looking to find the Greatness within themselves. Here at The Curvy Diva Boutique, we not only dress you for success, we provide you with the motivation to elevate your mindset and that begins with how you feel about yourself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow, there’s so many, but to start if you were visiting Nashville, TN I would take you make reservations to eat at The Hampton Social, enjoy live music at The City Winery, and go to Opryland for beautiful sites, shopping, indoor waterside, and boatrides.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to two amazing women in my life. One my mother, Rosylen, who keeps me grounded through every stage of my success. She is the who sees me running from event to event, tired, and still going. She send me motivational scriptures to push me foward to remind me my purpose is bigger than myself. Thank you, momma. The second. is Cindy Sims, Executive Director, of Center of Hope, Columbia, TN, she gave my purpose meaning when I needed a platform to speak on Domestic Violence Awareness, and provided clothing and financial assistance to survivors through my company.
