Meet Scene: Cinematographer & Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Scene and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scene, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music has always been a big part of my life. I remember being 3 or 4 years old, in the living room pretending to be a superstar with a fake microphone performing songs. I was always fascinated by musicians when I was a kid, and as I grew up, the love for music just kept growing. I eventually started creating my own music by writing and recording music, and then I got into DJ’ing and producing music. From there, this eventually led to finding a passion behind the camera. I initially bought a camcorder to film day-to-day vlogs like my favorite artists would. Then it grew into shooting music videos for friends. After saving up some money, I bought my first real camera in 2015 and ever since then, my career in cinematography has grown exponentially.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My path of becoming a cinematographer was a surprise really. I started this more-so as a hobby and a way to document my music progress myself. But it eventually grew into me shooting videos for other people. As I started doing so, I found it to be very enjoyable so I kept going with it. I built this career truly out of passion and I believe that’s what sets me apart from many. I feel that a lot of people get into a creative career because they feel like they can get rich over night. To me, this isn’t about money. It’s just about being able to create something that’ll last a lifetime. Something that people can watch and get inspired from. There definitely has been some tough times, but that’s really with anything in life. As long as you can keep pushing forward when things get hard, you’ll be successful.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I feel like Cleveland is an underrated city with plenty of things to do and see. If you’re into gambling, definitely check out the JACK Casino. Within the casino there are some great food places to check out, and also have to check out East 4th for some comedy shows and some other restaurants. Also can’t forget about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. And if it’s summertime, we would drive out to Cedar Point for the best amusement park in the nation!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout the entire film community across the nation for inspiring me and keeping me motivated. Bigger names such as BuffNerds Media, AM Visuals, AZae Production. And also some of the local guys here from Cleveland has definitely inspired me to keep going!
