Meet Savannah Harris | Bridal | Special Occasions Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Savannah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I would say starting my business happened all so fast! I have been doing makeup for as long as I can remember, practicing in my free time, doing it for friends and family, making reels/TikToks, etc. Never thinking this dream job of mine would be in reach for me! When I saw an opportunity to be an assistant for a local MUA, I jumped at the opportunity and fell in love! I knew not only will this be a way to make money by doing something I love, but how it will work with my family in the future! One of the hardest parts for me when starting was my confidence to do someone else’s makeup for such an important day. I knew I was good at doing my own makeup, but I have yet to practice on enough faces to know I can do others as well. Turns out, I was just as good, better even, and that’s when I truly felt comfortable with my choice of becoming a Bridal Makeup Artist.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been a people person. Growing up, I never had an issue making friends. I definitely think that has helped me create my business! Not being afraid to spark a conversation with anyone I meet, or recommending my services to the ones who share their needs. I am very fortunate for the support system I have around me. My family, friends, my friend’s family, my family’s friends, everyone has given such positive feedback and even tons of recommendations. I know this is what God has blessed me to do, for that, it has been surprisingly easy! I would say though, the most challenging part, has been the “business” side of things. Having all my ducks in a row if you will. Building a business from the ground up is stressful. You have to make sure you have everything 100% together before you take any steps further, or you have to at least make it look that way. Creating a quote for every client who reaches out, then for the ones who accept it, you have to send out an invoice and a contract, it can tend to be a bit overwhelming when you are new to all of it! That is where the abundance of love and support I have received comes into play! I couldn’t do any of it if I didn’t have all of these people standing in my corner. And for that, I am eternally grateful!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So happy you are here!! First we are going to start the week off with a Martins biscuit. Those are a must where we live! After that we will probably take a trip to my grandmothers house. You HAVE to meet not only Nanny and Grandaddy, but aunt Vinny too! We will just have to make sure we plan it so Uncle Greg is there as well! I’m sure we will be there all day hearing all of the crazy stories everyone has to tell while eating GOOOODDD home cooked food! Its already pretty late, so it looks like movies are on the agenda until tomorrow!
In the morning, we wake up, eat breakfast with mama, We just bought tickets for all of us to go to the Braves game on Friday (the best night to go since they do a fireworks show) and we go fishing with my brother and his gf in the John boat, while we wait for Zachary to get home from work before we go to our local favorite Mexican restaurant for margs on the patio! Thursday rolls around and of course you don’t own a Braves shirt, so to Academy it is! We snag one of those and head back just in time for the ribs my dad has grilled!
Friday is finally HERE! We head to the game, early enough to grab some food and our seats before the first pitch! Braves win 12-7 and the firework show has started! As we are heading back home a group of my gal pals are doing karaoke at our local Tavern and you KNOW I have to sing “Ice Ice Baby”! We end the longggg, eventful, fun night in time for you to gather your things to leave out in the morning! Cant wait for the next time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think a huge shoutout goes out to my honey Zachary. He is nothing short of amazing, not only in everything with our life, but a huge help in my business. He may not be one of the ones dolling up the gals, but her is behind the scenes helping me out with all of the paperwork, etc. It is very scary to quite your job, trust you insticts, or your partner in his shoes, to go on a limb and open up a business. He was so supportive, and never doubted me once, and i have to say, I owe all of my success to him. I love you, thank you for being my rock!
My parents also deserve a shoutout. My mom herself was actually a Master Cosmetologist! Growing up I was constantly around the industry of beauty. I would consider being her assistant as my first job! She has always been such an inspiration to me.
My dad is also an inspiration, but in many different ways. He has always been a man you can depend on, but will shove you out of the nest a time or two to make sure you can still fly. Starting a business from scratch is hard. I am forever grateful for my dad being so supportive, to help fund me starting out!
And lastly God. The amount of nights i cried to him because I was doing a job I felt wasn’t fulfilling me, is too many to count. Looking back now, working at those other jobs gave me the experience and knowledge I have now to be able to run my own business starting from the ground up. I thank him everyday for not only this opportunity that has changed my life for the better, but every client it has brought me along the way. I am a huge believer in everything happens for a reason, and every encounter does as well.
If I have already had the pleasure of having you in my chair, it was a joy! Thank you for trusting me. If it wasn’t for any of you, I couldn’t do what I love, everyday!
