We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Savannah, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be remembered as a woman who fought for other women, someone who pushed and inspired other women to do what they thought was impossible. A woman who lead other women to reach goals, love themselves, believe in themselves, and someone who always showed kindness no matter what!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started photography back in 2017, I started photographing all the genres, I did the weddings, I did the family sessions and I wasn’t a fan, I didn’t love it. It wasn’t until I saw Bodyscapeboudoirkc on Instagram and was absolutely SHOOK at her work. It is absolutely beautiful. After that I tried it myself and I instantly fell in love. I went full time into Boudoir. It wasn’t easy at first, some friends didn’t agree with it, some family thought it was inappropriate, and didn’t think I would succeed. I pushed on, my husband always said “fuck what other people think, do what you love.” And i did just that. I created a Women’s only Facebook group that now has almost 6,000 ladies in it. I started doing sessions and running my business in a very small spare bedroom of my home with one bed a side table and a rug , 2 years later, my husband expanded that same spare bedroom and doubled the size of my studio, it was perfect, I went from 200 group members to 1,000 to the 6,000 members we have now. Our area had not heard of Boudoir, it was not a popular thing, until I threw it out there and to be honest, I was terrified, I thought no one would do this?? It’s too vulnerable, but I was SO wrong, there are so many women struggling to love themselves, struggling to find that confidence in themselves, and I knew I had to keep going. I can’t tell you the feeling you get when a women who hates how they see themselves, looks at photos you took of them and cries because they genuinely feel beautiful, a feeling they haven’t felt in years. It’s euphoric. It’s a high that I will forever chase, it’s such a good feeling to be that light for other women, to show them that they are sexy, they are beautiful, they are incredible. I can only hope that when a woman comes in for her very own Boudoir experience with my business and my brand is that they feel genuinely beautiful, that they feel on top of the world and they feel like they have their confidence back, I hope they feel that they have a new friend that they can talk to you whenever they want to and I hope that they get to remember this experience for a lifetime! I believe every woman deserves to feel beautiful.
I think the one thing that sets my business aside from other boudoir photographers is the fact that my clients feel like I am their friend and feel comfortable in their own skin. I also get very creative with each individual client I mean we have gone to Plane Hanger‘s, we’ve gone to abandon buildings, beaches, etc. I think a lot of clients really enjoy the fact that my studio is on 23 acres and we have the ability to shoot outside, and not worry about creepy people because it is private property. It’s incredible, I’m so lucky to be a Boudoir Photographer. I couldn’t love it more!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I might be a little boring with this Question to some but, I am very much a homebody and a lot of my friends know that. But if I did have a friend come from out of town, food would be the biggest thing for us I love food, I would find a hole in the wall restaurant, we will probably go antiquing, antiquing is so much fun in Alabama and Georgia especially closer to the Alabama line they are so unique and so much fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, without him I wouldn’t have my business at all, he sacrificed his dreams and put them on hold for me to be able to pursue my own dreams with this business, he constantly pushed me, he even built my entire studio all by him self, he quite literally made my dreams come true. I am eternally grateful for him.
A woman named Alex Chalkey, she’s not a Georgia native but she is a big part of my success, she opened my eyes to bigger possibilities and made be believe in my abilities and myself. She made me confident in all things business!
