Meet Savanna Smith | Model, Makeup Artist, Registered Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Savanna Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savanna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Perfect examples of risk taking in my life/career that went right: moving to Atlanta, attending my first modeling agency casting, and deciding to start my own makeup business. My advice is to just do it- take the risks. The worst that can happen is you learn from the experience if it doesn’t go as planned. It is better to know you tried than to always wonder how something might have turned out.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
In my work, I am most proud about authentically being myself in all that I do in hopes of inspiring others to do the same. I have gotten as far as I am today by being myself. This is not easy in a society that tells us exactly what we should and should not be like. But true freedom is found in being yourself. I am most excited to see my new makeup business grow! I want it to be known that this did not happen overnight and I do not come from the lifestyle I am currently living-I created it for myself. I learned to stay grateful and humble through the highs and the lows. You have to stick to your plan and see your vision all the way through until you reach your goals. If you can dream it, you can have it, no limits! And you deserve it, no matter where you come from.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is the hardest question because Atlanta offers endless great food, entertainment, and fun! My favorite spots are those where there is a lot of fun in one area so I would say to visit places like Midtown, Ponce City Market, The Battery, or Atlantic Station. For fun interactive date nights I would recommend places like Top Golf, The Painted Pin, or Puttshack. If you like nature, Atlanta Botanical Gardens is a beautiful outdoor adventure. The bars and food places are everywhere! You won’t have trouble finding good food here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely would like to acknowledge my mother in my shoutout. She sacrificed so much in her own life to make sure that my siblings and I had a fair shot at pursuing our wildest dreams, even though she never got to pursue her own.

Simply put, without her selflessness and dedication, I would not be in the position I am in today. I honor her forever for that. My agent for being the first person to take a chance with me in my modeling career. It makes all the difference when someone else believes in you, it makes you believe in yourself even more. God, for never leaving my side and always being right on time. Anyone that ever congratulated me or supported me in any way, it means more than you think.
