We had the good fortune of connecting with Sathya Callender and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sathya, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the community in several ways. Scars of Survival Inc is a non profit organization founded by myself in 2016 which helps individuals to survive, heal, and thrive after domestic violence. Providing different resources to help families become self sufficient. Scars of Survival Magazine LLC is the first globally impacting publication in the world that caters to domestic violence allowing space for individuals to share their story in providing healing for themselves and others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Today I guess you would say I’m a multi stream entrepreneur because I now own 4 businesses. What sets us apart from others is my passion and willingness to step outside the box and for those in need of my services. I love diversity and don’t look at someone because of their religion but who they are as a person. I’m most proud about accomplishing a lot of my business goals despite the challenges I faced. It wasn’t easy to get where I’m today but it took determination, being eager to learn, ambition, the I can and will attitude, consistency, and being persistent. I overcame those challenges because I focused on those that need my services and understand it’s not about me. I’ve learned to have even more patience, that hurt people hurt, the importance of buying wholesale, praying first before I make a decision, learning how to say no when necessary, and making sure not I understand my worth. I want the world to know my passion is to help others to survive, heal, and thrive. Overcoming a 9 year domestic violence relationship I understand how it feels to be judged, but I’m here for you with non judgmental, unconditional, love and support. We can do all things because Christ gives us strength. Don’t never take a person word for it, find out on your own.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I enjoy the outdoors so we would definitely have to visit Helen Ga, the ride there is peaceful and the scenery is beautiful. While visiting we would stop by the Cabbage Patch General Hospital, go on an hour horse back riding trail, and then eat at Paul’s Steakhouse. I can’t forget the fun filled Six Flags which will be a day of walking, rising, games, and fun fun fun!! I love shopping at IKEA, my favorite store to shop for household items so we would definitely go there. Let’s not forget a relaxing night at Cafe Istanbul where the music is relaxing and the food is delicious.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a Shout-out to my fiancé Mr Wilson there for me through the challenges I faced while growing successful businesses. I was never judged but given constructive criticism In helping me make better business decisions. I thank God for the both of them giving me their unconditional love and support.
